You would have it serviced and such at your local dealer, the big deal is having the dealer there that can provide the service. i.e. I bought my last tractor at the second closest dealer to me because they offered me a lower price but if I have a question or need service I take it to the closer. The one below for $24.5k wouldn't be more than $1.5k to deliver to your door and I'm sure you could get that worked into the deal. I wouldn't be concerned about how far away the tractor is when you buy it but be sure that whatever type of tractor you buy has a local dealer.

Where did you see one for 24.5k?

Personal opinion only...
I would stick with green, blue, red, or orange...
Nothing against Mahindra, but around here they are almost non-existent...
Most farmers around here are running Deere, Case-IH, or New Holland...
In the compact smaller line it's Kubota, Deer, New Holland...
Massey on a smaller scale...
Personally, I would shop used for larger horsepower and a cab...

I'd like to shop for more HP and a cab but I still need some $ left over to invest in some implements. I'll just have to take my time. The main thing is I want a loader. My 504 just don't have the balls to push things around. Most farms have skidloaders along with all there big HP tractors but I can't afford to have 3 machines right now. Plus I've gotten really used to workin with big loader tractors. I used to spend everyday workin in an 8420 loader, talk about movin around some serious stuff haha.

I certainly understand your situation...
My dad sold Allis Chalmers for 30 years and we have 4 in the shed now...
The big one is an 8050 cab that pushes 150 HP at the PTO with Cab...
It has around 4000 hours on it and he bought it around 10 years ago for 12K...
He sold it new in 1980's for over 50K...
It is 2wd but for bush hogging it is great...
It does not have a loader but we no longer farm and lease out the farm to our neighbor...
I really enjoy using that little toy...

I think the concept that you "save money" buying an off brand tractor is headed out the window. Most major companies offer an economeny tractor made in India, Korea, Turkey or Singapore rather than Japan or the US. There was a point where it was true, but as the "off-brands" have raised their quality and offered more features their pricing followed and at seems in most cases the difference is slim at best.

As was said, I think its best to go dealer shopping.. rather than tractor shopping.

Just because you are young, cabs are still a good idea. Even though I used sun screen religiously when I was young, now as I approach 60 I've had two rounds of skin cancer. Anyway, staying out of the sun is something I recommend, and when it's 100 outside a nice cold A/C isn't a bad thing.

One of the main reasons I purchased Massey Ferguson is because of the local dealer (also had great luck with the machines). He will go above and beyond on every transaction and as mentioned before, when it's time to harvest crops getting a machine back up quickly can make or break the harvest. So far AGCO has had an excellent parts network for my needs.

Good luck on your decision.

ok guys lets throw the brands out the window, the OP needs a tractor that will work for him.sure the off brands are cheaper new.an alot have no resale value in 10yrs.an some of the name brands dont hold their resale value.so theres lots of things to consider.

Dmax, did you ever get in contact with either of the dealers about the 54/55 10s?

Sorry I never got back to ya MTM, had a crazy holiday. Anyways I'm gonna do some snoopin around this week. Also found out Dekalb Implement, (the one who owns all the JD dealerships around here) just bought property to build a new dealership a mile and a half from my house :) so I'm pretty set on JD now. Thanks for the input though everyone.
