I notice that your one that always flys in the face of "the real world" and quotes the "long change intervals" you get. And if thats your goal..ok by me..it dont mater. But would you mind telling me and the rest of the BB ( and the world while we're at it)..which company..selling ANY product that uses an internal combustion engine...and does NOT specify the sole exclusive use of "syn" oil...RECOMMENDS going beyond their maintainence plan interval for oil and filter changes because you DO use "syn" oils?

Seems kinda strange that Ive neevr seen or heard of ANY that do??

Most "motor makers" have these things called "warrantys"..and Im SURE they would just love to know that everyone simply ignores the prescribed maintainence!! (NOT!)

If it works for "you" then GREAT...but I wouldnt personally proclaim to the world at large that "because you do use it"..."yu can just forget the planned maintainence" and sort of do as you wish!

Lemme have a crack at this one .......... "No". /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )</font>

When was the last time you either HAD TO ..or WANTED TO go out and start a vehicle at -51 degrees?? At -51 I dont care if my engine lube is as thick as Jello...cause Im not going out to start it up!

I for one am really getting tired of all this back and forth, and would really like to see if we could just all agree on the basics and stop arguing about how cold it is in Georgia.

I call it dino oil because "dino" is easy to type and everyone knows what I'm referring to.

Synthetics are superior to said "dino" oils in almost all, if not all, measurable, quantifiable, scientifically-based ways.

Synthetics cost more and might not be worth it for everyone.

Mr skullry , I could care less if you use veggy oil in your junk . I don't recall attacking you for using dino.If you are smart enough to read some of my post , you will see that I have said , if you choose to use dino that's your business , but the facts are there for all to see.If you can read John Robinsons post ( he's a dealer by the way ) you will notice that several car makers state use synthetic ,& more & more are comming on line all the time, as for car maker warranties (if you can read all the fine print) ,they can get out of any part of the warranty for any reason they choose & you can sue if you want if you have the money to out last them.I also don't believe the guy in Ga. was attacking or directing his comment towards you. So, as you say let that fly in your face . I don't believe anyone here attacked you here until you started the assult. I use synthetic & if you use dino , that's fine with me.Nothing that I have said in the past has been directed towards you . You lashed out at me ,sir.

i shoulda known someone would bring that up, they have infact looked into synthetics in the past, what they found was that for our type operation synthetics realy wouldnt be all that advantageous, they run garbage trucks mostly, so its alot of idle time and that sorta thing, they say that where synthetics realy can give the extended drain times is in over the road type applications, in our type service it just isnt cost effective. we do run synthetic gear oil in everything, as well as synthetic tranny fluid in all the automatics, everything from F350 pickups to the big allisons in the garbage trucks, they all are synthetic, but for engines they found it simply wasnt best for our application.

Didn't ya just know someone from a cold, dark place would pipe up about -51 degrees?!? I've seen it that cold (and colder...) up here and I try my best to never, ever have to crank up any of my diesels -- Duramax, Powerstroke and JD at those temps! But when it's -20 or -30, I do go out and crank up one or the other of those diesels 'cause I gotta get to work or clear out my 350' of driveway (although, I'd probably leave it until it warmed up and just turn the hubs in..). Nonetheless, I just cringe when I think back to my old Delo 400 days! It sounded like some little gremlin in there with a 5 pound ball peen hammer tryin' to get out the side of the block!! No more of that business... I'll gladly shell out a few more bucks for the Rotella synthetic if it means another several years of reliable service from my rigs. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif AKfish
