Do you cary a weapon on your tractor?

I'll fess up I also sometimes carry as well. Reason is to kill ground hogs. You can sneek up on them all day but they will sit there while the tractor is running. I do dismount though. I figure some joker is out there with a camera dying to turn me in. No I don't expect them (groundhogs) to attack but they have destroyed a pond dam and cause the wheel of my old 2000 ford to get broke off. I'm sure they have their place but not here.

Eastern timber rattlers are protected so were not supposed to dispatch (KILL) them around here. There went the idea for my scabboard cover.

As far a carrying, here you can walk down the street packing anything legal as long as it's exposed. Concealed takes training and a permit. I am not sure that makes sense.

I love guns, grew up with them and feel very comfortable around them. Now people, that's another question.

While were on the topic of guns, what was the deal with Wal-Mart and guns sales the other day?

Trescrow I agree you.

You don't need a gun, you got a tractor. No animal is going to take on that iron beast, well maybe a Rino...I hear they're a big problem in Florida.

I have a cousin-in-law in Georgia who carried a pistol while bushhogging. He saw a snake and tried to shoot it while his tractor was still moving. Hit a bump and he shot his Kubota!

This is a true story.
Maybe this should be posted in the Safety section.

Well now ranchman, with this crew I'd say you neither get a butt chewing or applause for that either or.

Wasn't asking for such either way. Was just curious how big a minority I was. Sorry you misinterpreted my curiosity as having some deep, dark, self-rewarding motivation. Sometimes a question is just a question...

Just want to be fair case that pistolever has your bearings not.

Simple minded perhaps am I. Review upon first, statement yours appears insult likely. Out it spit, if say something you trying. Doublespeak impressive is not to me.

RanchMan, I guess you're in the minority, but not completely all alone./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I do have one farmer neighbor that I know routinely carries a rifle on his tractors (all of which have air-conditioned cabs), and that's because he wants to shoot every coyote and feral hog he sees./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Roy, Bird and all others who responded........

Yes we had a HUGE gun buyback here a while ago after the Port Arthur Massacre (35 or so killed).

Govt. bough back heaps of weapons but we all know it would have only been the law abiding citizens who fessed up to the weapons.

Out here on acreage I bet there are lots who own guns, one neighbour shoots pigs so I know he'd have them.

But I do feel safe knowing that Joe Average on the street doesn't have a weapon.

But hey if you're number is up, you are going to get stabbed, or just plain old beat up !!!

However I would be horrified if ANYONE here was allowed to carry a gun with them on the street.

That scares me but I can't see it happening.

Cheers

PS - Just my Aussie comments here - I am not stirring up an anti-gun debate.

Why? Is there some reason that the average Australian can't be trusted to do what's right?

Self defense is a basic human right. Any government that doesn't recognize that should be replaced with one that does.

They have a gun buy back programs here in the USA.
Here is how it works and who it benefits.
The criminal has a stolen gun(most cases)he commits a robbery. He sells the gun to a buy back program, collects his money for selling the gun. Then the gun is destroyed and so is all of the ballistic evidence along with the gun.Works pretty good if you are a crook.
