Sorry, by "wet" I mean "in growth period." I've probably spent more time than anyone around here swinging machetes and I can tell you that I'd rather whack at stuff that's green than stuff that's brown.
But, yes, if the ground and everything is wet (the OUTSIDE of what you're cutting is all wet) then things can get cloggy.
I here you on that, I grew up as my mother's designated machete wielder, then spent a few years on a GLO retracement survey crew in SW Washington. I think that my least favorite stuff to hack through is salmon berry, stiff woody stems with small loose thorns that always ended up in my knuckles. Been through a lot of devils club as well.
