Ya, but not true Floridians, those are foreigners, from the North and West is it? How come nobody from the South moves to Florida? BTW my grand parents loved living in Florida, transplants from Michigan.

Doesn't matter where they're 'from', in FLA they're under the media microscope and being capitalized on by them for attention. btw, As a pretty much life-long Michigander (at 71) I'm quite familiar with the past admiration of Californians, and frequent disdain for us in the 'Bible-belt', Texas, Arizona AND Florida.

Some admire our liberties, (legal pot, hard liquor at the corner party store, few if any 'dry' counties) and IMO most don't appreciate our typical arrogance. (Call me a liar, I dare ya! ) and IMO if there are poaching and trespassing violations archived anywhere I'd bet we're as 'bad' as any state in the Midwest.

Probably because they already have the warm weather, low taxes and somewhat less insane people and leadership in their southern state?
Friend of mine is moving from PA to SC. Bought farm with house for 1/5th what he’d pay up here.
Building $110,000 equestrian barn. Cant wait to get out of PA. Good guy. I will miss having around. I’m helping him with barn, farm equipment, etc.

I was a traveling salesman and until i hired someone, i covered Florida. That worked out because granny had retired there and after husband #4-5? died, she was alone. She was just outside of Orlando.

I would try to stay with her and work out of her house. Lots of extra miles but saved on motels.

I would get so bored I'd go hit golf balls at nite.

If you want to do some serious people watching, go to florida, find a convenience store on kinda the edge of town and just watch. Looks like walmart people on steroids!

My cousin living in New Jersey has a older small 2 bedroom 1 bath home. She pays 7000 in property tax. A friend has a small 2 bedroom 2 bath home in a nice suburb of Chicago who pays 9000. I have a much larger home and pay 2000. It is not hard to understand why at retirement people are heading south.

You could never find this info but, i'd be curious about what % of the budget is speant on personnel expenses, fully loaded, top to bottom. Not just collected tax dollars, we spend about 2 dollars for every dollar we collect.

We pay more and more in taxes so too many people can have kushy, life time, bullet proof, over paid, over benefited situations. They are not really jobs, you can get fired from a real job. All done on borrowed money.

Look into the salaries of these "city managers", school board superintendents etc etc etc. It's insulting and with very little oversite.

The idea that the SOBs at Social Security are dictating how i build my retirement and as federal employees, they have their own deal......that's a slap in the face.

Again, the problem is, virtually EVERYONE is close to someone who works for the govt. so ain't nobody gonna do anything to upset the apple cart except....try to get a federal job themselves!

i know, my granny was one of them. She taught me, it only takes one bad apple. I've got friends in Florida and they are decent folk, most are.

Aw heck, hang out at one of our local convenience stores here in PA or DE at 1-AM and you’ll see plenty of “video-worthy” antics.

I read 4 of the top 5 richest counties in the USA surround Washington DC. I've heard Washington DC referred to as, the most toxic environment on earth.
