Dodge-Nissan collaborating on Pickups?

It ain't American. Now my Dodge, that's American. It's made right here in (just a minute let me check) WHAT? MEXICO?

The TUNDRA plant is in the U.S. Ihave the 08 Tundra with the 5.7.Had it since FEBUARY,and been hauling my firewood,Hauling 4 atvs on my TANDEM each weekend.Best 1/2 ton truck ive ever owned ,hands down IMHO.Not brand loyal by no means,wouldnt say so if i didnt think so.Ican see why its mototrends truck of the year,and has the kelly bluebooks highest resale.
Itoo checked every brand.A FORD F-150 is second choice,ialso like DODGE[my last car was a big lemon,which kept me out of that brand]

Escavader, I was hoping my attempt to inject a bit of humor regarding country of origin was obvious (it seems to be quite mixed these days with no clear lines of what constitutes "American"). Like you I also believe that Tundra is an extremely fine half ton truck. One I would certainly look at if I were in the market.

Makes mw wonder if a love affair would ever last between Chrysler and Nissan?.

A Chrysler/Nissan romance would probably last about as long as the Daimler/Chrysler one did.

Yes, my "American made" Dodge 2500 was assembled in Mexico. That is one of our southern states, isn't it??

My biggest beef with the jap trucks is the frame and axles. They look real wimpy to me. At least around here most Toyotas are owned by yuppies so they have a pretty easy life. Never seen one going down the road with ladder racks all over it. Most people I see driving them are wearing a shirt and tie.
When I start seeing them trucks working like real work trucks then maybe I'll come around.

That's exactly the way I see it, too.

All the Titans or Tundras I see rarely have a 1,000lb plow hanging off the front or a scoop full of rocks in the back. They're almost always empty with some white collar clown driving it to work as a commuter car.

No wonder they "last soooo long"

People just get all gushy over Toyota quality. Wonder how they'd fare gettin the snot beat out of 'em in an oil field or a construction site.

My mexican built 99 Cummins Ram still runs strong despite the body falling apart.

Maybe Nissan can teach dodge how to make the body last as long as the Diesel. Sure would be nice to have a 9 year old Dodge with the cab corners still solid unlike mine.....

Most vehicles are really built all over the world now. The names seem to matter less and less.....

My 98.5 cummins powered Dodge was built in the good ol' USA. This truck has been awesome in the reliability department, despite me hopping it up to approx 550 rwhp(haven't dyno'd it with the new turbo yet).
The new rams, all HD trucks are built in Mexico, and 1500's are built in St Louis.

They built the Mexican plant in the late 90's and moved all production (except 1500's) to Mexico.

As far as rust, I see rusted out Nissans all over the place.

Reckon why you don't see many Dodge roll-backs and wreckers. Why can't they build a body and electrical system to match that darn Diesel engine. Still using a 1992 Dodge 3500 with Banks turbo 4 wheel drive super cab, it got better mileage than any 7.3 or gas truck that we had around. BUT---But it is the roughest riding rig around and the wiring and body are falling apart but the engine is just getting broke in. But what can you expect from a 16 year old farm use truck that has done it all. Government emission control are killing the new diesel engines both in trucks and tractors!!!!!Ain't these things 'pose to last at least 50 years like my 8N?????? Heard Nissan was going to use the Navistar diesel and build their own 3/4 and 1 tons in Michigan. They are still owned by Renault???? Is any of this true??? I see they are building alot of New "stand alone" Nissan dealership buildings in Louisiana and TEXAS. Lots of heavy pickup trucks sold in that area.

Renault bailed Nissan out of virtual bankruptcy in the mid-late 90's.
