I find myself hopelessly stuck in that quandry, too.

For example, my 4800. It's got the best of the simplicity world- divorced transfer case, simple air brakes, manual tranny and a mechanical DT466. So easy to maintain & repair.

For the modern world it has air ride seats, air release tailgate, but really needs air conditioning and power windows:(

Not really an "efficiency" thing-more of a comfort thing.

A new light-duty diesel engine produced by Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) will become an option for the Dodge Ram pickup truck. Our partners at The Republic in Columbus report that the engine will come as an option for the Dodge Ram 1500 after 2009. The engine will be produced at the company's Columbus Engine Plant. The 2500 and 3500 models of the Dodge Ram are currently outfitted with a 6.7 liter engine made at the Columbus Midrange Engine Plant.
