Dodge-Nissan collaborating on Pickups?

Somebody got to be making a profit somewhere in this whole deal. All we hear is how much money each company is losing. Who is not getting paid? They sure are spending alot of money on new buildings down here in Southwest La. and East Tex. Less is more or More is less but with a little better quality control Dodge could sell their new trucks for $12,000.00 per unit more if they were just not trying to sell market share and sell profitable units. GM and Ford get that much more for less? I do not want something for nothing. I need a quality product that I can use and abuse to make money on my projects. I can not make money with a truck in the shop!!! Ain't buying a $65.00 Bike to ride in traffic!

I think i understand your vast amount of wisdom now redneck it just took me a bit to figure it out. what your saying is that if you actully use your truck on a every day basis to perform your means of income then nothing will do except a 3/4 ton or larger and a Dodge is far superior to all others because its $12,000 bucks cheeper.
guess ill sell the 1/2 ton gmc tomorrow and get me a 3/4 ton diesel flat bed dodge on monday so i can work better and not have my 1/2 ton in the shop

it has been interesting reading about fuel mileages. I have heard some people that had tundra trucks were not overly happy with the fuel mileage. Personally the impression I get about them is that they are built like a 3/4 ton truck and rated at 1/2 ton so that they can brag about how much they can tow.

I have had dodge trucks and they were pretty good. I had a 1 ton ford that I really loved it towed well and rode pretty well. It loved gasoline and the pickup bed on it was barely thicker than aluminum foil but the rest of the truck held up well.

I like my silverado that I have now. Since I dont use it for rock climbing I expect it to hold up pretty well. It is 4 wheel drive and the one time I buried it in some mud I had to get a wrecker to get it out. I did not feel too bad about that though when the wrecker hooked up to it and started dragging the wrecker back into the mud. Unfortuneatly though the best I have ever gotten out of my duramax with a 6 speed is 20 mpg on level ground running 70 and the only thing in the truck was me. I cant seem to get some of these great fuel mileage readings that others get.

I don't think I got less from my GM pickup than a comparable Dodge.

Yes, my "American made" Dodge 2500 was assembled in Mexico. That is one of our southern states, isn't it??

Ah...well, Mexico will be our 51st state. Bush will annex Mexico into the USA a day before he leaves office so we can get cheaper fuel prices and vehicles that are actually made here in America.

i cant remember if it was lutz or wagner at gm that said " the only reason you would buy a diesel truck besides a gm is that you cant aford it, thats why im not lowering the price of our diesel units"

like i have said before all this competition in the LIGHT truck market is good for every one of us who drive them, the market is getting tighter and every new advancement that one company makes forces the hand of all the rest. Look how quiet the cumins is now in response the durimax, look at the power increse whe have seen in the last 10 years in the diesel and gas engine. working in a shop for the past years i could tell you what to expect to fail on most pre 99 gm trucks, post 99 maybe waterpump gaskets, or mode doors on the a/c, fuel pumps, thats about it.

GM FORD DODGE TOYOTA NISSAN MB have all come a l ong ways in 10 years but they need to for what we are having to pay to drive their units.

whats the next 10 going to be like?

Can't imagine pulling that 32' with an electric truck----But you never know---My Grandpa would kick my butt if he knew I paid a buck twenty for a bottle of drinking water!

Builder----Have(HAD) a 2008 Chevy 2500 HD 6.0 GAS (35000 miles in six months)until last month----Darn Old Dodge Van (one of those made out of solid metal)hit it in the rear end---she was going 40 mph downtown and texting on the phone at a red light. Darn good frame but it still couldn't handle that hit. This new emmission stuff just has me to chicken to buy a diesel as hard as I drive one. The old tank (Dodge 3500)put back in full service---car and truck duty. 400,000+ miles and hoping to stay out of down towns.

he sure would have-that drinking water costs more than diesel fuel!

As I look at it, certain older style trucks, tractors, engines are just destined to be classics-you can't go wrong buying them.

If you're on a limited budget, those are the ones to buy. A 5.9L Cummins in the right model older Dodge, like a late 90's 1-ton with a stick shift would be one of those trucks. Ford 9N tractors, DT-466 diesels, etc.
