Dodge ram

Hearing all this made me think of something.
10 years ago I would not buy a Dodge/Ram or whatever you want to call it. Knew too many people that had problems with trannys, etc....
Then work got me a long bed Crew cab 4x4, ran it for a few years and like it. Offered to get me a new 5.7l Crew Cab, said sure. Ran that one for years and loved it. I needed a new and bigger truck than my Tundra so i bought a Dodge Ram 2500 for personal use - really like it. This year work said Ford is the low bidder so how about a F150 - said sure, have to admit I was hoping I would get another Ram but look forward to trying something new.
We have owned a LOT of Toyotas and I really do like them and wish they made a 2500/3500 style truck but the domestic manufactures have come a long way in the last 10 years !

I whole heartedly agree with you on the Chrysler automatic transmissions of years past, can't say about newer ones. Had trouble with one myself. Next truck was a manual. Every truck since then has been a manual with the exception of one. Didn't really want it but, the deal was too good to pass up. It was a Cummins.............

All the sales folks swear to me that the automatics are stronger transmissions. I don't argue with them, I have had the best experience with manuals so, that's what I get. I don't care if other folks want autos, just not what I want. My understanding is that none of the new diesel powered trucks up to the F550/5500/whatever offer a manual with the exception of the Ram. That may or may not be true but, that's what I was told.

If that is in fact true, then I'll never have anything but a Dodge or Ram. Just my opinion but, my opinion is what decides where my money gets spent.

YEAH and We missed out on the recall NV5600 has been good to me- although I did have to replace the clutch hydraulic master/slave assembly at 110K miles. jmo but around here manual equipped Rams seem to hold their value a bit better to.

Well, I'm pretty new here and didn't know that. houstonscott, will you verify that? Have you ever asked yourself why there's such a thing as brand loyalty? There is a reason ya know. I don't have a clue as to what your truck of choice is, don't really care but, I can assure you that no matter what brand we're talking about, bashing another brand won't change anyone's opinion. Only a bad experience or, some other brand coming out with a product the buyer really wants. As I said previously, I'm on the road a lot and run with all the other brands. In fact, I've hauled a few of them home when they had problems with their trucks. I don't make fun of them, could happen to any of us but, my Cummins has never let me down. If you are a salesman, I highly recommend you figure out a better way to attract customers because, you don't seem to be changing anyone's minds here. See you on the road. Yes, you do bash whether you realize it or not. You need to first understand the difference between enlightening and bashing. You can enlighten without bashing but when you bash, as you constantly do, it is difficult to take anything you say seriously and I doubt at this point, anyone has any respect for you.

Being objective it a two-way street. You should try being objective and you may learn something.

Dad had one and loved it. I wouldn't buy one unless I was putting on a lot of miles as the nit picky VWness bugged me and I wasn't a big fan of the seats.

I own two brand new VW's after Ford ticked me off. They are both junk. Dealer was also great at first then started screwing up just like my Ford dealer. So see where all this brand loyalty talk is going? Don't matter what you buy, you are either going to get a good one or a bad one. Roll the dice. They all make lemons and they all make good ones. And they all have good and bad dealers.

Ive owned an 88 f150, 2001 dodge 1500, and now have 2008 chevy 2500HD. My next wont be ford or chevy.

Friend of mine bought new f150 last yr, and it has been a nightmare for him. Always in the shop, and they can't seem to fix it.

Another friend bought a dodge last year, great truck, no problems. I liked the dodge i had, was a nice truck.
