Dodging Mr. Black

My plan to (continue to) dodge Mr. Black is to volunteer for an important job at church. Figure God will work hard to keep me around if it's important enough.

If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans.

Gary This past week end I was with wife at her 60th.year class meeting. Malvern high class of 57. and there was 150 graduated. The speaker noted there was over 50 deaths and 40 was in past 10 years.
so 1/3 third of class has gone.
I was in smaller school and recall 45 graduated . We can all sit at same table now.
It all happens so fast. where did the years go.

I have no idea how many of my class is left, haven't been to a reunion ever. I do see a couple of comments on the Classmates website so I know at least 2 are left but I didn't have a lot (26) to begin with.

As to where did the time go: I thought about that when I got out my black suit for my neighbors funeral, hadn't had it on since my mother died 17 years ago and it sure doesn't seem that long ago. I didn't take a suit with me when I went to my brother in laws as I wasn't expecting him to die so suddenly.

Good one!!!! Actually the most God pleasing act you do today you probably won't even notice. :)

If I tried on a suit I had last worn 17 years ago there is no way on God’s green earth I’d ever be able to squeeze into it.

Me either, robbyr. At a funeral today the guys were wearing dark suits. I was in a flannel shirt and flannel lined jeans back in the choir. I thought to myself......."Geeze", Maybe I could rent a suit.....or ....maybe they could cut the back out of mine to bury me in it.

My take on a persons death is its your business and not some governments, relations or anyone else's. If you choose jumping off a cliff, chew on a lead biscuit or take a pill its your decision. I've watched several people wither away and suffer because the laws in this country say a Dr can't end someone's suffering. Worst was my dads. I hope I go quickly or maybe a law will be passed for the whole country like Oregon. I think it's your death and no one else's so why do others have the right to make the decision for you.

When the Old Native Elders reach the end of the line they wait until mid-winter and just walk out into the woods, sit down under a large spruce tree and quietly and peacefully freeze to death. They do not want to burden those left behind with the sorrow and sadness of a long, drawn-out, painful passing. I've been almost that cold and it is a very peaceful experience.

Yup, I have given away several nice ones. because they sure don't do me any good. Then there are those old "leisure things" from the 80's. You can't give those away....:)

Hahahaha. I remember polyester of the 80s. As far as a dark suit...Got married in it and I'll be damned if I get buried in it!

When my Marine Corps hitch was over in '76, I swore I'd never wear another uniform or suit or have anything around my neck, ever again. Even to this day, I can't even wear tee shirts because they are to constrictive. Not even sure why.
