Does anyone have a cab on a BX22???

Most of the bares around here are white bares. I have not had any problems with them so far concerning my dogs. They just bark at the bares and the bares just move along. The dogs are not intimidated by the bares and the bares are not intimidated by the dogs. Seems that they have a mutual understanding of each other.....

Junkman, I just happened on this site and yes I have a BX22 with a hard cab by Larins (Canada). You can see pics of it on the BXSeries group on yahoo. I am quite satisfied with it and bought a hot H2O heater and wiper too. Heater is a real 'stove' that will run you out above 20 degrees, haven't experienced colder than that yet. The ROPS problem is solved by removing the factory foldable ROPS and the cab is so designed as to serve as the ROPS. The rear window removes and a small panel folds down so that when you turn the seat around to use the hoe you can get you feet out. Doors come off easy to .. just lift up out of the hinges for summer. They have a 'not quite shut' feature that allows about 3-4" of 'open' for extra air on a stuffy day. It comes with a vinyl cover for over the area around behind the seat. And also a cover to go over the air intake beneath the steering wheel, on the 'console' rear screen area. (This is needed so the engine doesn't suck all the air out of the cab and cold air into the cab!) I then removed the panel under the battery for fresh air for the engine. If you are doing a lot of dusty work such as mowing then you might want to check the lower screen or put the panel back on and remove the air intake cover. But, both cold and dust are unlikely to happen in the same season's work. I'm using the front mount snow blower and it is a nice toasty machine. Have a blade too, for some occasions. Hope this helps. Thanks for the information. I know about the Kubota BX club on Yahoo, but forgot about looking there for pictures. You know how senior moments can happen. If you don't mind my asking, how much did it cost and was installation included? Is the cab hot in the summer with the doors off? Do you remove the entire ROPS or just the upper half? How do they deal with the filler cap? I am heading over to the Yahoo site now to check out the pictures. Thanks..... and welcome to TBN..... Junk..

Junkman, Without looking up the invoice, as I recall it was about $3300 installed, with the wiper, the heater and vinyl covers included. Installation of cab (about a day and a half)was not too bad but the shop mech. who did it and the heater said the heater was the toughest. I believe him, the cab looks simple enough. Heater is mounted at the left side of the seat. It is not hot sofar as I've used it this last spring and summer, it gets alot of air and with the heater line water valve shut you could even use the blower for a little more circulation. The fuel filler is not altered, the cab has a door made at that location to access the filler from outside and it is enclosed so as to be separated from the inside of the cab too. The entire ROPS is removed. The turn signal lights are shop removed and replaced with larger ones on the side of the top. I could not let them be on top due to garage door opening height. It has sound proofing padding and is fairly quite. Not at all like when cabless though. You hear mainly the transmission whine in high range. But, since my ears are about shot it doesn't bother me. I have not attempted to remove it for summer. I really like it on since here in the woods there is an abundance of widow makers. The TBN safety column seems to second that ! The BX23 has a much improved FEL valve assembly mounting bracket so far as the installation and removal of the FEL is concerned. On the BX22 I have to pull the top and bottom pins on that side due to the way they made the valve assembly mounting bracket since the valves have to stay with the machine for the snow blower and would be a problem to remove even if not needed for it. A little bit of a slow up to get FEL on and off but not bad. Probably will speed up as I get used to it, since my hourly rate is zero, it doesn't matter. I have put on the electric motor for horizontal control of the discharge chute. Other wise you must mount the crank outside, open the door and hand crank it around since there is just nowhere in the cab to place the crank shaft thru the front wall. It comes with a bracket for storing the rear window over (outside) of the windshield when using the BH, I'll not use it probably. That would be OK if one was out on a job somewhere, but not necessary if around the place. If you need detailed pic let me know what shots & I'll try to post. Mora

Mora, I'm going to check this cab out tomorrow. I'm guessing the dealer has exclusive rights? What kind of electric motor do you have on your chute??

Bluecon1, Hello, Yes I think that they will only sell to dealers. Mine came in deal with my tractor dealer. He had access to several. I would have liked a good soft top at the time but none were availble for the BX22, now glad I have this one. The electric motor came as an option after the order for the blower because the dealer could not mount the standard manual crank thru the front of the cab after he mounted cab in place. 1st one he had done like this. It was pretty salty at $300+/-, but winter was in gear so I went for it. It looks like an electric motor from an auto application for an electric window. It is reversible. It came with a gear attached which was not really used except by their alum. machined part with 2 set screws to fasten to it and in turn drive the wire worm gear to move the chute. It was made in Mex and has some #'s on it. It came with a couple of brackets for mounting it on the left or right (this case) side of the chute, wirung, bushings, switch and good instructiions. I've not seen or heard of a mechanical air conditioning system on a BX. Mine does, however, have a 'doors off' and rear window 'removed' system in the summer. That works fine at North Latitude 39 in the summer. The doors on my cab are 'suicide' hinged and I'm certain that the last 2 door vehicles (Ford 1933 and 34) so hinged did Not have a cooling system that could be called 'air conditioning' in the modern sense. (or is that 'cents'?). I'd suspect, kidding aside, that a system for the little BX series tractors would have to run the compressor off of one of the PTO's since the underhood space is just about all consumed. Or, of course one could use a regular household 'window' unit or RV 'roof' mounted type and run it off of a 120v generator....it also being powered by one of the PTO's. I for one would like to know if you find such a unit. Good luck and thanks, Mora
