Thanks, Stradbash, but I have R4 tires and the chains I looked at that were the same as yours sunk down too far in between the lugs, thus limiting their aggressiveness. I am going to be looking for H chains such as those sold by canadianchains.ca in British Columbia. If you look at their picture, they stick out even more than the straight ladder chains I tried out before.

I have them on BX24 where the frame is tight. 2nd year for them and do not have any problems on clearance, run in snow or mud with backhoe. Drive in high gear. I do have the tension springs on the outside to keep chain slack out and use wire ties for any loose chain around connectors. They do make a lot of difference on traction for the things I do. I will admit they do run close but do not hit anything. Ordered off Internet, chains for BX24. Came from tirechains.com

I finally got around to installing my chains this weekend before the snow fall up here in the north east. On My BX24 it is very tight between the backhoe and on the frame but I have the chains really tight and will also order some chain tension springs to pull in some of the slack across the tire. The traction is much better this year; For example I was able to plow this last storm in 2 wheel drive and in high gear.

Just put ladder chains on my BX25 two weeks ago. I have used them through two snowfalls so far without any issues. Things are tight, but I keep tension on the chains with bungee cords. I'm also running AG tires. I'll post pics.

OK, I fit the chains on, but just barely. Here's the pics - man what a difference in traction! (Looks awful mean, too!)
