Yep, a self leveling loader that can't roll back very far can be frustrating. Seems to me we should not have to suffer that trade-off. I'd personally give up a little range of motion for the self leveler, but not much.
Does Branson Offer Auto Bucket Leveling ? How Important Is It ?

You can override the function if you curl or dump the bucket while raising or lowering. But if you just leave the bucket alone, a mechanical self leveler will always keep the bucket in the position you left it relative to the ground. It isn't a very smart system, it just adjusts the bucket so it does not change angles. The most common usage to holding a set angle is obviously to keep the bucket from dumping it's load on your hood, or in the case of pallet forks, to keep it level with the ground.
Some of the early Branson self-leveling loaders had a really small amount of bucket rollback/dump. At ground level you could only tip the bucket edge up a couple of inches, so loose stuff would want to fall out. At full height, the bucket would not dump at a very severe angle. So it was limited on both ends. The new ones pretty much solved this and gave us back a reasonable range of motion.

After thought here: When I bought the 6530 it came with a B30 conventional loader but the dealer accidentally included a self leveler operators manual....so yes they exist.
On both Bransons, the joysticks can be put in NE, SE, SW, and NW positions whereby you can control the tilt and altitude simultaneously and have the best of both worlds....a little tricky but practice makes perfect!
