Why would you do that to a pickup? Exactly why would you need extra tires in the front? Last time I used my truck I put the load in the bed not on the hood. I wonder how far you can turn the wheels before a tire hits the fender.

I wonder how much the turning radius was increased by this modification since it looks like the outer tires would hit the cab on a tight turn.

Oh well, this is less ridiculous than monster trucks.

This 'embarrassment gene'. What is that? My wife would like me to have some, where can it be acquired? The kids moved out, and I still haven't grown any.

Reminds me of the train of thought that lead to the Hummer. Pretty cool, to darned expensive for the results. Makes helicopters seem not so expensive (maybe that was part of the thought).

Reminds me of something that GM did a few years ago for a car show, much better idea in my priceless opinion: Dually bed pickup without fender wells, and a single wheel rear axle. Now that had potential (would have still tracked poorly in snow/ruts).

But no one ever said a fool had to justify his money. Look at that silly 4 wheeled v10 bike that Chrysler put on the show circuit a few years ago. Silly, but fun.

I think it needs one of those self contained train air horn and compressor kits. As Diamondpilot mentioned, the sight and sound of it would be pretty darn intimidating coming down the road. No question who would be king of the road with that sucker.

If it wasn't for the duals front and rear I think it would be a pretty sweet looking truck. Peterson's 4Wheel and Off Road Magazine has a Dodge of that approximate vintage equipped with the Cummins and with slightly larger than stock tires. It gets featured in a few articles from time to time and also is used to pull other projects around. It is a beautiful truck and if I had the money to play with, I'd love to have one just like it. I know I've said it before numerous times but ever since 1994's redesign Dodge really has made some great looking trucks.

Could be; but I doubt it as unloaded tires would stand a bit taller, and the four front tires look equally loaded to me.

Somewhere I read that Ford offered a 'Super-Single' rear wheel option in lieu of dual rear wheels many years ago. I notice some Class 8 over-the-road tractors with super-single rear wheels now. Other than losing emergency carrying capacity in the event of a blowout, the super-single seems like a good idea to me; but I've never driven a dually pickup.

MAybe it also has rear wheel steering, like the monster trucks use?? That would get it back to being streetable. Looks like they spared no expense on that truck, so it may well have that mod done to it also??

I think it looks cool, but I think in most states it would need fenders over the exposed tires to be street legal, but what do I know???

Not only would the steer tires hit the body, but the front axle is not designed for those stresses. The wheel bearings, steering system and ball joints cannot handle the additional load. Can you imagine the forces needed to overcome the scrub of the additional front tires? If that thing is the king of the road, its only so on a straight road.

All I can say is there has been a few times that I could have used that, when spraying fields. One of the local co-op has truck with dual floater tires allround but it is built from an old semi truck.
