Yes! She enjoys finish mowing our 10 acre field with the L3010HST...has brush hogged with the 8N.....and cleaned up with loader after our re roofing two summers ago....no backhoe work as yet. My adult daughter also does her share of tractoring when she and her husband bring in the 8-10 cord of wood each fall. All are waiting for the new L3430HSTC to arrive.

My wife and daughters drive and thank goodness. I'd never get all the work done without all of them.

This was on delivery day...........she ain't touched it since. In fact in early December I take a golf trip to Myrtle Beach and we had a snow storm about 8-10" of snow. I called her on the phone, she say's how do I run the Kubota because I need to plow? I start to tell her what she has to do and she stops me mid sentence and says "your no fun, I thought I would put you in a panic by touching your baby and you just didn't bite".

She sent our teenage son out to hand shovel the drive /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Said if it was as easy as the old Cub then maybe she would have done it, but the loader scares her. So later in the year, I guess I'll have to show her how to use it and prove it's easier than the old cub........or maybe not /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

We've had this little "rub" ever since I got the Kubota. She accuses me of liking the tractor more than her, and harasses me all the time about being on "Tractor ****" as she refers to TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I tell her it's not that I like the tractor more, it's just that it does what I ask and doesn't talk back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But I got to much invested in her to turn back now so I'm keepin her. Besides she don't look to bad on the Kubota /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, thanks everyone for all the comments, advice, and pictures. Made for an enjoyable evening. I chuckled at the comments, to the point I had to tell my wife what I was laughing at. I wasn't going to broach the subject just yet, but now it's out of the bag...so I guess one of these days I will have to embark on the tractor driving course for my wife.

She wonders how any of these people actually get anything done if they spend hours on TBN? She envisions us as these fat guys (ok maybe I am a few lbs over my target weight), sitting around the computer, getting cookie crumbs in the keyboard. That's why the wives are out there trying to learn to drive the tractor.

When I asked my wife if she wanted to drive the new tractor she yanked the keys out of my hand and jumped up there. After a short explanation she was off.

Four hours later she got off the tractor handing me the keys, letting me know I made a mistake letting her drive. It is now a race to the keys when we need to do something.

One big advantage to this is every time I mention wanting a new item for the tractor we get it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This is a great one. I started out with a 245DT Kubota, then to a couple of 336D Yanmars and now a 5300 JD. She loved the Kubota and the first Yanmar. She is a little intimidated by the 5300. Still she will use it when she has to as I am away most summers. She used to take out the 245 to do gardens comercially. She really enjoyed getting out of the house and meeting folks. Never did get the hang of the loader, but she was killer on the tiller.

surfran, how does that grass catcher thingy work. I would love to have one, but not sure I could get by with it, at least not until the wife gets here suv.........

And NO she does not drive the tractor, I am not about to let her know how much fun it is, she thinks I bought it for work..............There is the thing of the perm smile when I even get the key out though that might give me away. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I trim out a 2 or 3 acre section with no holes and easy turns and send her off. She gets a kick out of running the tractor. I sit in the shade and enjoy watching her enjoy herself. She drove a stick for years so she knows the do's and dont's of the clutch and shifting.

She wants to start to learn how to use the loader...I told her as soon as I get it figured out, I'll teach her.
