Does your wife drive the new tractor?

John, I can only imagine how tough that would be; my sincerest condolences.

And I agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post, too. My wife had absolutely no interest in tractors, had nothing to do with selecting them and never drove one, but she would certainly have been welcome to drive them anytime she wanted to, and if she'd expressed any interest or opinions about which ones, I'd have certainly given that serious consideration.

Great shot!! I often get the same view of (my)(her) backhoe, too.

I have to admit, my whole family enjoys the tractor and we do a LOT more together now that we have it. Small price to pay for family togetherness!!

That reminded me of the time my wife and I went to Milwaukee Brewer game. We were sitting there watching the game when she said, "Isn't that a coincidence! All of the umpires have the same name." /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I asked what she meant by that. She said, "All the umpires have their names, AL, on their hats!" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Back on topic. As I'm still tractor shopping, I can't say whether my wife will want to drive it once I get it or not. But I do try to get her to go along with me whenever I'm going to check out a dealer, and once we're there, I try to get her to climb up on the different ones to see which ones she likes. The interesting thing that I've noticed is that she will only climb up onto ones with a cab. I hope that's a good sign! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But I seriously doubt she'll want to drive it. I can't get her to use any of the power equipment we have. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

( I will help too, your personal ad should read:

"Wife wanted, must be NH tractor owner, implements a plus" )

I've heard that before. I think it finishes with:

"Please send picture of tractor and implement."

Yeah, that's the part I forgot to write on mine.
I guess it's not funny unless I put in the punch line. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I finally found out how to keep my wife off of my tractor.
I used it this past weekend to do a tilling job for a lady in town and didn't have time to unload it when I came home.
It's sitting there all pretty on the trailer and she can't get it off.
She sosen't hesitate using it whilw I'm at work. Couple weeks ago we had a tree cut down and she fired up the tractor and drug them down to the guys grapple truck.

My wife and I have ridden motorcycles since the early 1980's
For years she had 650 bmw and I had a 750 kawasaki.
In the mid 90's she got the hankering for a Harley
and I had my eye on a JD CUT. We had a friendly stand off for years cause we couldn't justify spending the money.
Finally, in the late 90's she suggested that we get both.
I could get the JD CUT if she could get the Harley.
She bought a wide glide and I bought the JD 790 Gear transmission. It was an equal deal as both were 1500 cc
engines. She rides her Harley and I drive the tractor and
rarely will each of us let the other one on our machine of choice. In 2003, she let me trade the 790 for a 4310 with
430 FEL. The only exception is that I will let her
drive the JD 4310 for snow removal (I also have 59" front mount snowblower) if I am out of town on business.
This arrangement has made for a happy couple and a happy
marriage.

My wife won't even go in the barn and she always gives me a mean look when I tell her "I'm going to jump on my hoe."

I hadn't been back to read this for awhile...but jmc....I'll have to remember that line, that's a good one. For Perry, if your wife rides a harley, she's not going to have any trouble with the tractor ...that's for sure. Would she be wearing the leathers to bush hog? I'm trying to get a visual here. As to BubbaJR's comment about teaching his wife some stuff in case he gets stuck under the FEL or something....well my wife said something about all his wife would need to know is how to raise the fel up and drop it about 3 times. Hope I never get into that situation !! Maybe that toothbar isn't a good idea afterall?
