That dog has seen it enough to know that the cup in front of him means food is nearby or on the way. He's thinking how to claim his portion of the goods or if not that, a sympathy dog bone or whatever. Great pic.

Thanks, sixdogs! (You don't really have six dogs, do you?)

Actually, that cup is my coffee cup, and Jasper knows well enough to keep away from it. His food cop is a plastic one, and he does get excited if he sees it.

He is actually making claim to that rocker, which is a favorite of both me and my wife, so we do have a bit of a battle going each time someone wants to use it! First come, first served is our rule, but of course the dog doesn't know that. His rule is, if it is vacant, it's mine!

Here's one thought for him that might apply to the picture. "OK so if you're finished your coffee, let's go already - I have to pee!"😜

The one dog we have the can amuse herself for hours on end LOL <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=519222"/>

Yep. It's amazing how they can entertain themselves so easily. Our Jasper likes to take a big plastic ball on our 50 foot wide deck and run back-and-forth growling like he's murdering it. He sounds so fierce, yet he is a complete Lamb.

Know what you mean. When we had a cow that was breach, I was the one that had to
turn it if I could or if the calf was already dead, had to cut it up and bring it out a piece
at a time. City folk have NO IDEA what being a farmer really entails! It hurt
me nearly as bad and the cow to have to do that. I'd work until I was totally exhausted to
try turn a calf and bring it out alive. Covered in blood, afterbirth, feces, urine and sweat,
it'd break my heart to fail. :ashamed:
Last one I worked on, the cow was waist deep in our pond and it was in March. That
water was cold and she would not move or could not move. After I got the calf out in
pieces, she broke lose from dad and swam out into the deep end and sank from
exhaustion; drowned. That was a good $1000 dollar loss counting the value of the
calf and cow not to discount the pain in loss of life for both. Dad lost heart for the cattle business
after that and we slowly sold off our stock. We'd get a steer every year, along with a couple
hogs to butcher. We kept the chickens, rabbits and horses but used our hay and corn as a
cash crop instead of a feed crop for the most part.
Dano

Man what a story, I would feel the same way with such a loss, that would be really hard to witness.

I have only had steers for beef but I can sympathize with that kind of loss.

...

After a rolling average of six for the last 35 years we're down to three at the moment but stay tuned.

Was it on this thread I remember someone saying dogs are better in packs?

My dog chews on things time to time and gets in the trash, I have the opportunity to pick up another male Shepard for $250 that's 10 months old but has only had one round of shots and no heart worm meds and has been a outside dog the last few months. So he needs a vet and some work.

I would hope by having 2 dogs they would entertain themselves more and behave better, what do you all think?

My dog is 4 and is still as hyper as a puppy, he freakin loves to play all the dang time, he knows all the commands and minds very well, he's deff a Velcro dog.

The money part wouldn't bother me as long as it benefits Max.
