Any day that starts with a freshly smoked dog bone is a good day for a 37 lb field Springer Spaniel.

My dog can play fetch until my arm falls off or I pass out. I use a "thrower"
for distance etc. She is all about the ball. Fast roll on the ground, she's on top of it.
Long throw, she can often get it on the first bounce. Throw it high and long, she'll
watch it like a Lab watching ducks fall. Throw it in the water, she jumps in and is
swimming.
She has toys to chew on etc. But the tennis balls are for play time only. I do not give
her the balls because she destroys them, pulls the covers off and rips the balls
to pieces. However, sometimes I'll let her have some doggie "me" time instead of
bringing the ball back to me. During those times she rolls onto her back, wiggles
around on the ground, chews the ball and looks to be having the time of her life.
It makes me smile and is a joy to watch. These pics are from this afternoon.

We've had dogs over the years that would wear your arm out throwing a ball.

We found a "Chuck it" stick at pet smart.

It resembled a lacrosse stick.

That sure saved my shoulder and elbow

For our GSD, a tennis ball has a life span of about 10 minutes.

We found the rubber chew balls with nubbins and squeaker held up the best for ours.

We tried the ones without the squeaker as well. But she would puncture those within an hour and they would deflate into a half moon
