Dogs and neighbors.

I've only had to care for 3, each at different times. Each was the same though, elderly lady who lived by themselves and their dog. The dog only gets attached to that one person, and then when that person either dies or can't care for the dog anymore, the dog is now put in a completely new environment. My only guess is that they are distrusting of new people because it's not who they're familiar with. I can guess that could happen with any size dog however. By the same token, I also realize that there can be small dogs socialized very well and don't have a propensity for aggression. I just find it ironic the only aggressive dogs I've usually had to deal with were small enough that I could kick them to the county line IF I wanted to LOL

The phase "little man syndrome" does come to mind though to apply it to dogs LOL

To me, an aggressive dog is bad, no matter what size they are.

I'm very Blessed. My dog sleeps in my shop with his own door. No leash. No fence. No wandering. No problems.

Same thing here with me......only took my wife 20 years to train me!:laughing:

I actually do use a safety restraint on my dog. A 70 pound dog can be quite dangerous flying around in an accident - both to the dog and the other occupants. I know that most people don't restrain their dogs - just like we didn't have child seats or even adult seat belts when I was a kid.

My 6 lb poodle will not bite. If she does it wont hurt. She has been without teeth for a few years now. She still tries to do her job. If anyone comes around, and she hears them, she lets me know. Her hearing is getting poor along with her eye sight. But she can still do all her tricks including sneezing on command.

Cool. Mine is 3 years and 2 months. She was a rescue and was scared a lot when we first got her. The trainer who had her was thrilled with her reaction to us. Four other couples had looked at her but she wouldn't come near any of them. She can still be a bit skittish but she has gotten very comfortable around us.

It's like I said, until his kids started calling her over and playing with her, she never left my property. And I have told him I am trying to keep my dog home. He is a larger fellow, and knows his size, the couple times he has spoken to me about it have been more brought up in casual conversation.

Your choice, in fact don't restrain yourself or your kids, either. Or maybe you have a waiver from the laws of physics. In my world, a dog traveling at 60 mph will continue to travel at 60 mph even if the vehicle abruptly stops. That may include a brief interaction with you and or the windshield. :laughing:
