Dogs in Lowes Store

/ Dogs in Lowes Store #21
I was at Lowes Wednesday and a couple of guys were there with a Chihuahua dog. No leash, just running around saying hello to everyone while the owner was calling him to come back.

We, too, have a Chihuahua. She loves everyone; just looking for new friends; will NOT bite or fight. However, the only store I've ever taken her into is PetSmart and then only on a leash for her own protection. I can't imagine letting a dog run loose in a store.

I sometimes take my 126 pound black and tan German Shepherd into stores with me when I have seen that it is ok to do so. I don't take him to grocery stores or any place that serves food even though he loves to go for a ride, but I see nothing wrong with a dog on a lease in a hardware store especially if he is well behaved which mine is.

Folks are always coming up to me wanting pet him but they always ask first especially since he is a huge dog but he is a real gentleman even with other dogs that might be aggressive. He just stands there and looks at them " like what is your problem".

I too have seen women in Walmart with their fur balls in their shopping baskets which really doesn't bother me, but I would prefer to see them on a lease rather than sitting in a grocery cart that I may later be putting some of my groceries in.

I have 2 large dogs. I vote NO on dogs in stores except pet stores. Coworker votes NO also.

I spend a lot more money in stores where I can take my Rottie. For example Tractor Supply where I know I can get a better deal elsewhere on general household things. Whether we need something or not we go every Saturday or Sunday to Tractor Supply or Lowes (some times both) and always buy something. She made a mess once as a puppy and we immediately took care of it with bags and wipes we brought with us. She is on a first name basis with the regular staff at both places. My only concern with her is when the cashiers who are not as well trained as she is walk away from another paying customer to hug her and the extra time it takes to shop when half of the other guests in the store ask if they can pet her. I think training, socialization and attentive owners are what is required, especially with a 80 pound 2 year old Rottie.

I saw a woman pushing a goat in a baby stroller through the aisles once...!

When I saw her, she,her husband,a drunk and the store manager were in a fist fight. Seem's the drunk customer told her"that's the ugliest baby I ever saw". The lady burst into tears and screamed"I'm getting my husband from the parking lot to come whip you." The manager overhead them and said"go get your husband maam,I'll watch your goat while you are gone".

I get a grin seeing a dog in a (appropriate) store. My quiet well behaved Jack Russell will occasionally go into one of these places, basically HD, Lowes, lumberyard, TSC or the farmers co-op if he's with me especially if it's hot out, he rides in the cart. Never had anything but folks wanting to come and "say hello" to him.

They can bring the dogs all they want,, but, they will loose EVERYTHING when that dog injures someone.
Insurance company's now say they will not cover damage by certain breeds,, common breeds.
German Shepard's, Rottweilers, pit bulls, and MANY other large breeds.

Who do these people think is gonna pay when their dog causes an issue?
Heck, all the dog needs to do is scare someone,, emotional scars get BIG BUCKS!!

They can kiss their home and savings goodbye,, and future earnings,,,

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "Emotional Support Animal" yet. You can get a letter from your psychiatrist or therapist stating that you need to have your emotional support animal with you or you will suffer emotionally. The animal is supposed to be wearing a blaze orange or red "vest" that has Emotional Support Animal printed on it. Pretty much gives them a license to bring their animal ANYWHERE with impunity. I saw a vest at my local foo foo feed store, you know the one where the city slickers buy $60/bushel shelled corn to feed their pet yard deer. The cashier stated that if you put one of those vests on your critter without the note from the doctor you can be fined the same as having a fraudulent handicapped parking sticker on your car.
