Im slowly working on getting my property fenced. So far just a half acre. The rest will be fenced after we can get a house built.

Although, I've been enjoying not having the back yard fenced. I've seen a momma deer and a couple fawns on occasion over the past couple weeks.

Our neighbor's yard is fenced. The deer do not care, as they are frequently grazing in her yard. The best the fence can do is keep the dog in and the fawns out. But momma's have no issues with a 4' fence. They don't even take a running start at it.

I enjoy seeing the fawns close by

I spooked the fawns yesterday morning when I took my pooch for her walk at sunrise.

Poor buggers were crying as they were running away

They were hanging out by the dog pen, where my sister in laws husky has been staying.

The husky was just sitting inside her kennel watching the fawns.

The fawns were probably 20ft from the edge of the fence when I spooked them.

It took me a long time to fence exterior of my 30 acres. Then had to build interior cross fencing to isolate horses, etc.

It just never ends.

That's a LOT of fencing! If my math is correct, about 1143 feet per side if it was a perfect rectangle.

My fence to separate is done. I just need to sink a couple posts and add a gate. The other 4 acres plus a fenced in back yard will be after the house and shop get built.

Actually more. Ones a 20 acre parcel and the other is a 10 acre across the street.

My records show 6,520 ft of a mix of field fence and non climb horse fence, plus 900 feet of white vinyl fence. Thats not counting all interior cross fencing, as i stopped keeping records . Got lazier. Then throw in dig pens, interior horse corrals, etc. No wonder im so tired

Fence and done are two terms that will never be together when talking about fences, there is always something that needs repairing or replacing

Over last 10 years I have fenced more than half of my 92. Worked in stages, expanding cattle pastures as needed (wanted). I still have many more feet to run and likely it will never be done right.... As long as the critters stay in with help from me or the dogs I'm good. Deer and Cattle are hard on any fence, and my 100+ pounds dogs do not help when they are on a mission.

I had to point out to my sister in law that she was being trained today

She's got training treats in her room for her pooch. Well Gypsy figured out that they were there. The nose knows!!!!

So every chance she's had today, she would go into the room and sit.

She would then look up to where the treats were stored. Nudge aunt Neecee and then look up at the treat bag.

After the third time she went in there for a treat, we informed Aunt Neecee that she was in fact the one being trained

We also told her, since she can open her bedroom door, you don't want to be trying to get some sleep and have her randomly come in demanding a treat

Got up this morning and all was normal. Let the dogs out and started the coffee. Then it happened - with all the windows open there was a MAJOR strong hit of skunk. Oh, nooooo. I went out and called and got them inside. I don't think any of the three got hit directly. Shut up all the windows and went out for a look see. The skunk is in the live trap right next to the deck. I've been actively eradicating ground squirrels all summer and the skunk took the bait.

So the trip is for a dental cleaning plus some other stops and I've already rescheduled the cleaning once. I'm going anyway. This will be interesting.

I'll leave the skunk for the wife to deal with.

That retriever was "this close" to snapping at that little kid, based on the little lip movements going on.

The little girl looks to be a 2, 3 maybe 4 years old and kids that age can't talk that way. At least any I have known.

The AI out there is scary good. There are Star Wars videos with Storm Troopers that are really funny as are the Big Foot videos. All AI.

There are talking dog videos that are a hoot. There are multiple channels with talking dogs and I can't figure out if they are from the same people or just different people with the same idea. The dog "voices" sound similar too. In any case, they are very clever and funny.

I agree. I had the same reaction to her speaking. A kid that size doesn't have the motor control yet to speak that articulately, even if a few achieve adult grammar.

As humor, it was amusing.

Just for the record, AI or not I agree with you. I would never allow a kid to get near my dog's face like that because you never know what will happen until it's over.
When my first dog was old and had arthritis we were at a friend's house and she was laying quietly on the floor.
The woman's 2YO grandson walked up and poked her in the eye just for the fun of it. Talk about an "Oh, ****" moment...
Luckily she just turned her head.
The following summer the kid got kicked in the head by a horse, almost killing him.
