I did something similar once, swapping two wires, at about the same age. Kinda sticks with you...I haven't done it since.;)

I had a buddy call with a problem. Truck wouldn't start after he worked on it. I asked what he had done. One of things was pull the distributor and work on that. I asked if he was sure it was in right. "Yep, it fires at top dead center". "Which time?" Yep.

My company Silverado has 130K miles on the original plugs. They generally get traded every 3 years, so I don't worry about things which aren't giving problems.
Changed the plugs in my F150 and Kia Sorento at 100K. Both looked just as good as new when I pulled them.

Some plugs are platinum and look brand new at 100,000 miles.
