We use Cat's with DPF in our nut elevators. We have had more than a few issues with sooting and low power modes. Then we have to go out and plug in to force a regen. It's a learning curve for the operators. We have implemented cold start procedures that seem to be helping to alleviate most of these issues. Our new Runners use Cummins DPF/DEF systems. Bot sure how that is going to work as those machines are just being put into service this nut harvesting season. Wait and see I guess. B.

I would love to buy a new tractor. I know I can't because for me, it's impossible to run 2500 RPMS from the minute I crank it until the minuet I shut it down.

Those large plowing farmers aren't going to see much problems (I don't think) . What I see and hear around me is the small farms where they can't /don't run wide open for long periods.

Since I fall within this group. I'm just going to locate (how ever long it takes) a pre emissions machine....

This is the problem for many users when it comes to tractors utilizing emission reduction engines with DPF etc., we simply don't operate them most of the time at full rpm because doing so is often unnecessary wasting fuel, and well.... piston speed is wear. I run mine at full rpm for mowing etc but for most uses max power/rpm isn't required and I'm around 1,600 rpm. If I had a tractor with emission equipment it would be highly recommended that I run it close to pto rpm all the time to minimize regens, which costs me more fuel.
