DPF Regeneration driving me crazy...

What the 'right to repair' deal is all about. I know Kubota dealers all pay an annual subscription fee to Kubota for updates on their diagnostic hardware and Kubota only 'leases' it to them, they don't own it outright.

Always been my assumption that diesels were originally designed to produce peak power at a lower RPM than a comparable gasoline engine and not having to run at rated rpm constantly.

I know my diesels all produce substantial power below 'rated rpm' I rarely run them at the rated or maximum governed rpm. The slower they turn and produce adequate power, the less fuel they consume as well.

Once every 60+ hours for 10-15 minutes. Don’t be so dramatic.

Seriously doubt that any tractor will go 20,000 hours on the same dpf,

You can idle them, you just shouldn't be doing it for extended periods of time. Yes, they will regen more often if you idle for longer periods of time, but it's a simple process. I think some should define idle as well. I consider idle to be sitting there at lowest throttle. I don't know anyone who does this while actually doing anything for more than a couple of minutes. I always run at 1200-1500 rpm as a minimum if doing anything other than sitting in one spot.

Seems to me some people just need something to complain about.

I put 2200 hours on a 2016 l6060 and am now coming up on 800 hours on a 2020 l6060. I can think of maybe 4 occasions where the regen was an inconvenience. 3 times were when i was moving pallets around in a barn and didnt want to run high rpms, and one when i shut it down during regen because i forgot about it. Spoiler... the neighborhood i was in looked like mosquito control was rolling through when i fired it back up. I did have a few times in the 2016 where the regen didnt want to ignite properly and smoked like crazy for a minute, but whatever. Its really going to boil down to how the engine is being run. 95% of the time, mine is running wide open and not being lugged so its burning as clean as possible so my regens are very far apart. Im sure if a person were running at low rpms and bogging a bunch, it'd regen every few hours. If thats not the case, it needs to get looked at because its probably got a bad injector or something. Personally, I dont miss breathing in diesel fumes and will gladly deal with the regen.

I guess my choice is to be calm and sit there while it does the regen, take my meds and put on my N95 mask, and keep it revd up to 22/25 rpms... or get in my old tractor with the leaky hydraulics and relax...LOL

My dealer told me 1200 RPM if it's sitting still or not under load. That's what I've been doing. The cardinal sin is to abort a regen. That's a huge nono and will result in problems in the future. The best scenarion for these tractors is to run them under medium to heavy loads as much as possible. If I load mine up I see the soot level stabilize and sometimes it even reduces.

Every five hours seems excessive. Are you keeping the rpms up in the recommended operating range? DPF tractors need to be worked and not idled much.

It could be that your DPF is too clogged and is not getting full cleaned. There may be a malfunction in the regen system
but more likely the DPF needs to be cleaned. I'd contact a dealer and ask them about the problem. If nothing else they should know who cleans DPFs locally.

No, I was idling as didnt think the Kubota needed to be revd up that much.

No difference

Not exactly true, as the regen revs up to about 2500 rpms, and manual says put in PARK, let down FEL, and all implements, and I would not think it would let you keep a load on the PTO.

My VW TDI used to also do that during regen. No difference

This may be for a parked regen in the case you have bypassed the previous regen process in the past. For a normal regen, none of this is needed like stated many times.

There are thousands of us having zero issues with any of this. We have tried to explain what works. Try it or don't, but it's not that hard.
