I saw a picture of a drawbar lock (not sure that is the right term) that keeps the drawbar from spinning when using a trailer hitch ball on the 3ph drawbar. I have done the search but can't find it. Any ideas where to get one?

thanks,
Keith

If you have a Tractor Supply Co. in Atlanta, I know they carry them.

If you do a google for ssb tractor/trailer supplies you can navigate their site and see a picture/drawing. As I recall they cost about $20.00.

I bought one like the attached picture off eBay for $19.99

caylor,
I called TSC nearby and was told they don't sell them. After reading your post I got out my TSC catalog and found one. They don't stock it but will have it in about a week. It costs 15.95.

thanks for all the help guys!

For a few welding rods and a walk around the scrap metal pile you can build a drawbar lock VERY easilly.

Here's the first one i made a few years ago.

Here's a more 'perty' one that works just as well.

Both designs work. 1st one was a scrap piece of rebar and 2 scrap pieces of ibeam.. a big bolt, washer and nut

2nd design was 1/4" flat plat with tabs cut out and welded on.. and a big washer for the drawbar pin to go thru as a 'guide'.

I've tried them both.. as a pair or singlely ( is that a word? ).. both work fine on my N tractors totine a 16' trailer with a total load of about 3700# .. no problems..

Took about 15 minutes to build each bracket, plus the scrap metal.. plus a few welding rods..

Junk- I bought one of those on ebay. There are about 6 listings at any one time. Cost about $16 and works great as long as you aren't using some type of quick hitch.

Hi Keith,

I don't know what kind of tractor you have, but if you have extendable 3PH arms like what comes on a Kubota B2910, the TSC drawbar lock will not work on the tractor without modifications.

Same is true of a TN from NH. The adjustable link ends are just to big for any of the locks I have found.

My solution was to get a 2 5/16" ball (10,000 lb) with a long shank. You can order then off the internet or perhaps at a local trailer shop. I think the one I have is 3" long and has enough space to go through the draw bar, and still leave enough thread for a washer and bolt.
I then just mount this on the large hole at the end of the fixed drawbar. Use an impact wrench to take it off and on as needed, since many ag implemets use just a pin and the ball must be removed.

Here is another type of stabilizer I have seen on Ebay. Draw bar stabilizer. . Would be simple to make out of scrap.

I bought my "official" NH drawbar lock from my official NH dealer. I don't have the receipt handy, but I know it was less than $20. And no shipping cost. If it cost any more, I am sure I would not have bought it, but would have made something on my own.

The part number is shown as SPCDB413ODS. I can't find it in a search at Messick's, but it looks like their Manufacturer search is off right now.

See the attached pic.

Notice my customization - it came with a bolt and nut to hold it on. I thought that was too time consuming to put on and off, so I drilled an eighth-inch hole in the end of the bolt and put in a clip with a washer underneath.

OffBalance,

Did your DB lock come with 1 pin only? The one I got at TSC also just had one but the guy went to the harware section and got another one. I like your mod on it.

Offbalance,
I bought one just like the one in your photo and it won't work on my JD 2010. The support arms on my 3pt hook up are too thick and the angle is different. Looks like it will go up on Ebay shortly and I will get out the chop saw and stick welder to build one of my own design.
Oh, I didn't buy it from any "Official Dealer" and it looks exactly "Officially" like yours. Think maybe someone is infringing on someone else's patent?

Yes, it only came with one bolt. I can't see as it really needs more, since there is not a lot of force placed on it sideways.

I did the mod since there was not enough room to slide over the ball on the end of the 3ph arm without removing the bolt, and I only have 1 crescent wrench in the tractor toolbox!

Farwell - I imagine that the "official" dealers get them from the same source as everyone else.

But the interesting thing I just noticed is that there is one of those little gold oval stickers that says "Made in China" on the back, while the "official" label says "Made in Mexico"!

I think it may just be one of my kids playing a joke on me...

Offbalance,
I think that it may be some sort of conspiracy to make us all a little confused. It may have been made in China and assembled in Mexico. They manufactured the draw bar lock in China, then they shipped it to Mexico where they put the bolt in the hole, then they shipped it to the dealer where they used the American labor force to screw the nylon lock nut on the bolt, thereby making it an "Official Part". If this makes sense to anyone then we are all confused. I could not resist!
