Re: dressin\' up an old YM187

Whiskey,

I can see a reflective difference from the first primed pieces and the ones most recently done. Nothing boaring about these kind of pictures. Before and afters are what I live for. Keep up the great work.

Regards, Mark

Yepper, big, big differance /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif even looks better with the naked eye, I don't have a nice digi camera and I'm not a photo buff when it comes to snappin' good pic's.

Whiskey,
Great lookin' job so far! Mind if I ask what your painting set-up is? I'd like to do my YM2310 some day and I'll be watching your progress. Thanks

Darrell2

I'm using the primer & paint from Tractor Supply Company called BPS and the hardner too, all thing's I learned from tractor buffs on this site. Any other questions feel free to ask and either myself or others will answer.

I'm off work again today (feeling better but been sick since Thursday) and the wife put her foot down on Sunday and said "you sit in the house all day" and it was pouring rain all day but maybe later today I can start the red, if I do I'll put up some pictures.

Re: dressin\' up an old YM187

update time:

Got the tack coat on and one good coat of red today, and man my shoulder feels like someone drove a spike in it, talk about over using one muscle. I'd switch arms but I'm a lot better with my right so it got used alot more.

And another thing.....the strange positions ya gotta get in to hit all the little spots, things are hurtin' that I didn't know I had. I layed on the foor and painted, on my back, standing on a chair...had to be funny to watch!

Anywho...got a little dark before I got my picutres taken, but here they are

Re: dressin\' up an old YM187

Last one for the night. My tack coat was a little thick, so when I mixed the second batch of paint I put a little naptha in it and it worked like a charm.

Another thing I learned today was I need to slow my painting arm down, I tend to move it to fast, on the first coat after the tack coat I tried moving my arm alot slower and I could watch the paint hit and lay a nice coat down on the metal just like I knew what I was doing /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Looks good. I like the color too. You need to take a few more days off work so we can have immediate updates....
