The root cause of the failure is the u-joints need lubricated, and TYM didn’t say to do it in any of the manuals or service bulletins. /The u-joint goes bad, and the vibration causes damage to other things.

I wish there was a video of the input shaft replacement as I'm about to attempt replacing mine if I can confirm the correct input driveshaft part # for a TYM T233 . The gray painted shaft in the photo is the same style broken shaft that is on my tractor now . My question is , will this newer style U joint shaft painted black fit the older T233 ? I read somewhere that TYM changed the shaft to the U joint style . Also the question is , is there clearance for the U joints and do you have to split the tractor to install it or is there room . New shaft part # looks to be 13182192100 if I can confirm it will fit . One dealer said it will work but I want a second opinion before I order it , wait weeks or months to get the part and have it being the wrong one . I would like to document this job with photos and videos to help others with this same problem . Any help is much appreciated !

On the T233, T273, and T293, which all have frames you don't have to "split" the tractor. That term is used for the non-frame tractors, and the engine/transmission are the longitudinal structure of the tractor. On the T233, you take off the hood, and pull the engine. At least, I think that is what the local independent tractor mechanic did when he replaced the drive shaft on my T233.

When I replaced mine I cut a hole in the floor under the mat with a hole saw. That so I could get to the bolt on the drive shaft.

I did what Bud did. It's a very tight space underneath there and helps a lot to open up the top. It's in the center and covered by a black floormat so doesn't bother me any at all.
