Rob,
Maybe you missed my thread on the solar power we are putting in right now. If you haven't read it, go HERE

We are getting a new compact SUV (tiny) to make the drive up. We're looking at that new Jeep Compass. Seems like a pretty good car for the price with great gas mileage. Sure beats driving my old Blazer up. Although every single thing that is there at camp was brought up in or on that Blazer! It's got 177,000 miles on it now but only gets about 12 mpg. I have to run Premium in it too because it has a Vortec Blower on it. So that's kills us. But I've pretty much got everything up there I need now, so most of the future trips will be made in the Compass. Soon I'll keep the Blazer up there for a ranch truck.

This is what it looks like every time I have to bring stuff up there.

It took Loretta an me 4 long hard weekends to build all those camp decks. We finally broke down and bought a small generator and I brought up some power tools after trying to use the Makita had drills to screw it all together. We had 5 batteries and they were all used up by 10:00AM of the first morning...hahaha. The generator also allowed me to bring up a couple of saws. It was pretty tough without it. Now I've got 2 generators up there, actually 3 if you count the new Cummins for the solar project. But we still don't use them for electricity...only to run the power tools, welder and the well pump. We're going to keep South Camp kinda primitive.

Now I'm up on all the othere posts. WOW interesting the local power and going to solar. So that'll be enough power to run some big machines? Cool!

A large investment but looks like it'll pay off. I'll keep up on the threads better now.

Yeah, I have a couple ongoing threads about the property and of course, my occasional tractor project here and there. I like to share what's going on in case it may help someone who's thinking about doing something similar.

My Jeep is on order because I didn't want the Limited, but rather the Compass Sport. There were none around in Jeep Green with the options I wanted so we ordered one. Dealer said it will take 6 weeks or so to get here. And NO, I won't be bringing up loads like in the Blazer.

Trahere, I've got an Arctic Cat just like yours. Mine is a 250cc with dedicated 4x4 and 3 gear ranges, 5 forward and reverse. In super low it can really rock crawl. Now my wife uses it for spraying weeds with 25 gallon sprayer on it. LOL....She had the gall to put a tiny license plate that says "girlz rule" on it. Can you believe that? I do have a pistol holster and a rifle scabbard mounted to it and she is not allowed to take them off.:)

You should get good usage out of the AC ATV. The engine is a Suzuki. I have the 280cc version in my King Quad. BIL has the AC 250 2wd.

I think you need a trailer bud? Never found the need with all the hauling? :)

I REALLY need a trailer...you're right. One thing about only having the weekend, or actually only one and a half days, I can only do so much. But I am looking at trailers because I'll be hauling some of my personal stuff once the house is built. I'd also like to bring up one of the Harleys to ride up there. Lots of places to tour and dirt roads to go down. Maybe put knobbies on the 89 inch Sportster?;)
