Rob,
Maybe you missed my thread on the solar power we are putting in right now. If you haven't read it, go HERE
We are getting a new compact SUV (tiny) to make the drive up. We're looking at that new Jeep Compass. Seems like a pretty good car for the price with great gas mileage. Sure beats driving my old Blazer up. Although every single thing that is there at camp was brought up in or on that Blazer! It's got 177,000 miles on it now but only gets about 12 mpg. I have to run Premium in it too because it has a Vortec Blower on it. So that's kills us. But I've pretty much got everything up there I need now, so most of the future trips will be made in the Compass. Soon I'll keep the Blazer up there for a ranch truck.
This is what it looks like every time I have to bring stuff up there.

It took Loretta an me 4 long hard weekends to build all those camp decks. We finally broke down and bought a small generator and I brought up some power tools after trying to use the Makita had drills to screw it all together. We had 5 batteries and they were all used up by 10:00AM of the first morning...hahaha. The generator also allowed me to bring up a couple of saws. It was pretty tough without it. Now I've got 2 generators up there, actually 3 if you count the new Cummins for the solar project. But we still don't use them for electricity...only to run the power tools, welder and the well pump. We're going to keep South Camp kinda primitive.
