I'm sure most of you have seen the drone built by the 18 year old that also has an attached semi-automatic pistol that can be fired while the drone is in flight?

There sure is a lot of controversy about the legality of such a weapon. i.e. Who is responsible? What if one wanted to set the parameters to go out and kill all people of a particular color, gender, or whatever. Or go out and destroy all green automobiles? Or any other criteria.

It seems that armed drone is one serious machine. As are all drones that can and are being used to invade personal and public property.

Drones seem like something so very useful, so cheap that most anyone can own one, and so versatile. And so uncontrollable!

Do we need 'more drone laws'? Or ???

That's a tough one. It is already illegal to use a gun for example to shoot at someone or to shoot in an irresponsible way so my vote really is to just apply our current laws to the drones. I hate new and more excuses for govt to insert itself into our lives.

I'm not against making sure though that current laws are thoroughly enough written to deal with drones doing things like invading privacy, etc.

There sure will be more of this topic!

morning guy's

the Blue Angels are flying in Seattle this week and will not fly if there is any drone activity in their flight path. sucking a drone into a jet engine could be a disaster in a heavily populated area.

NO MORE LAWS - good god we have enough already...

As stated by jimmyj the laws already have this covered...

All the laws will do is make doing stuff with a drone and a firearm on your personal and private property a felony. So if your nosy neighbor who is watching your via binoculars sees you use a drone and a firearm to shoot varmints - you will be reported and arrested... as a felon...

With that being said... any drone over my private property will be considered to be trespassing and after seeing this video - possibly armed, which equals a threat... so it will be dispatched as any threat would be. After all how is flying a drone into fenced and gated property any different than a person climbing over said fence or gate?

One other important fact - The military already has signal jamming devices. So, it seems plausible that drone signals could be blocked if we were allowed to use less powerful signal jamming around our own property.

hmm - Why not use those elsewhere too, like do stop idiots from driving while on their cell phone and texting? That's another topic though...

I'm with Gafn - we do NOT need more laws. Many of the existing laws aren't enforceable already. Unfortunately, the armed drones make assigning responsibility almost impossible.

PS Shooting an aircraft is already a federal law violation. So - shooting the drones out of the sky if flying over our property and invading our privacy, although a good idea in my thinking, puts us at risk of being a prisoner.

Now you have brought up a great point...

Are they aircraft? If they are, then they should be required to follow the rules normal aircraft - FAA rules on minimum safe altitude to be 500 feet above ground level.
Private airspace above the ground extends to around 100 feet - anything lower than that is considered trespassing.

So - if drones are classed as aircraft, until the FAA changes the MSA rule of 500 feet - every drone operator is breaking the law - a law which is not being enforced
If Drones are classed as aerial toys like RC planes, then entry into private property less than 100 feet is trespassing - again a law that is not being enforced

The only law they are selecting to enforce is shooting at an invasion of privacy trespasser. So use the option below...
Shooting at an aircraft is defined as discharging a firearm

Your objective is to ground the device, and it takes very little to interrupt the rotors. Using a compressed air device to propel a T-Shirt (or something similar)into the rotors... works just fine and does not violate the shooting at the aircraft rules. If you accidentally run over the drone while trying to retrieve it... oops - that was just an accident, just like the drone flying into the test firing of your new long range seeding tool, or crow dispersion device...

I really could care less about what some da*m gov agency classifies a drone/quadcopter etc as being. One of those little toys starts flying around my yard and its open season. And I don't have anything that shoots T-shirts or potatoes or onions etc.

my property changes 100 feet in a few places. meh... put my 4 points of property boundary in err 8 (i U shape around 2 properties). and go all the way up. ya enter, you in trouble.

i don't need some bozo coming into my own property, saying yada yada yada... about there drone taking a noise drive into my property. and coming in and retrieving it.

in drought years + crop = enough spark and a field goes up in flames.

i don't want some bozo's coming in 100 foot 200 foot 500 foot with zoom in lens trying to watch wild life. half my digital cameras with optical zoom *shakes head* already have an extreme focus.

i do not know current law, but there is some sort of privacy invasion law i do believe, of were photos can be taken (news / tv reporters / police and like)

keep ya crud on your side of the property line and i will be happy. don't bother me and i won't bother you.

shooting up in the air *big frown* scares me more than anything. bullets can go a long ways, and unpredictable how they fall due to wind

i could easily see folks using a drone to go up to some bird nest, and causing issues with birds, to getting drone down on 4 legged animal and causing issues as in harassment, to point animal retaliates or attempts to. to causing animal to get overally excited running in fear, and acting out in the fear. talking dogs, cats, cattle, horses, coyotes, bears, coons, squrials, etc... animals at large being harassed. i am not a full nature nut, but... drones = folks getting to much courage of doing something, that they themselves would not put themselves into. if it was not for a drone. hey it is a drone big deal if it gets destroyed :/ but could see folks getting cattle / horses all riled up and crashing through fencing and like. it doesn't have to be a bullet / gun, lights / lazers, sound. is good enough...

while there is land based bot wars / matches... how long before it becomes aerial and stuff scattering all over the place as litter and folks to lazy to pick up after themselves.

==========
hey drones are cool and can be very useful and fun. just keep your drone within your own property boundaries. keep all your radio singles within your boundary within reason of FCC doings for strength. to point your radio strength does not effect others nearby on there own property.

===========
public land (distance off of road / in ditches), to general parks and like. something most likely will happen and be put in place.

emergency vehicles and likely have loop holes per say... fire fighters checking more fire lines as fire is in progress maybe.
police tracking down folks. vs getting out and chasing down folks on foot.

something most likely needs to be applied to drones. so even non violent / crowd control means of nets to sound or like is not able to put into a drone. and this extends to police. military ya ok, but local police? when folks stop interacting with each other face to face, and start going through drones *ughs* i could see needing some sort of license / permit to control drone that has any sort of projectile equipped to it.
