What trim level did the truck you drove have? Was it 2wd? What was the biggest thing that you liked or didn't like besides the engine?
My 2014 Silverado is great but I swear the seats and the ride are worlds apart from my 2004 I had. Even the 2011 I owned had a worse ride and worse seats then my 04. The ride isn't really THAT bad on my 2014 z71 but my 2004 did ride nicer. The seats being worse is no excuse though. The 2003-2007 had awesome seats whether you got cloth or leather, buckets or split bench.

My 2004 GMC had what I believe to be a softer suspension than my 2011 or 2013. The seats from that era were certainly more Buick like than truck like...I don't notice my 2013 GMC nor my previous 2011 GMC to have a rough ride at all...If anything the 20" wheels and the Goodyear Eagles certainly stiffen it up a bit but not noticeably. I drive on all sorts of terrain for at least 3.5 hours per day going to work and I find it to me very comfortable...I drove a 2014 for a week and it rode similar to my current truck although I think the seating position is better along with it being scary quiet inside.
The FX4 refers to the off road package. My 2006 F350 FX4 has crank windows, vinyl flooring, and a manual 4WD system.
It was a FX4 extended cab with the 2.7 Ecoboost. If your not really familiar with the Ford lineup the FX4 is a 4x4 and a step below the King Ranch/Limited. My guess is its the best selling trim level. Every Ford Truck I have owned has been FX4. I really like the seating pistion/dash. Very comfortable and switch placement was a little nicer than my 2012.
