What trim level did the truck you drove have? Was it 2wd? What was the biggest thing that you liked or didn't like besides the engine?

My 2014 Silverado is great but I swear the seats and the ride are worlds apart from my 2004 I had. Even the 2011 I owned had a worse ride and worse seats then my 04. The ride isn't really THAT bad on my 2014 z71 but my 2004 did ride nicer. The seats being worse is no excuse though. The 2003-2007 had awesome seats whether you got cloth or leather, buckets or split bench.

It was a FX4 extended cab with the 2.7 Ecoboost. If your not really familiar with the Ford lineup the FX4 is a 4x4 and a step below the King Ranch/Limited. My guess is its the best selling trim level. Every Ford Truck I have owned has been FX4.

I really like the seating pistion/dash. Very comfortable and switch placement was a little nicer than my 2012.

My 2004 GMC had what I believe to be a softer suspension than my 2011 or 2013. The seats from that era were certainly more Buick like than truck like...I don't notice my 2013 GMC nor my previous 2011 GMC to have a rough ride at all...If anything the 20" wheels and the Goodyear Eagles certainly stiffen it up a bit but not noticeably. I drive on all sorts of terrain for at least 3.5 hours per day going to work and I find it to me very comfortable...I drove a 2014 for a week and it rode similar to my current truck although I think the seating position is better along with it being scary quiet inside.

The FX4 refers to the off road package. My 2006 F350 FX4 has crank windows, vinyl flooring, and a manual 4WD system.

I test drove a Eco Boost when I was home last time. It was a 14 cc lariat that was nicely equipped, 4x4. I liked the truck far as test drive . There are some hefty rebates on that truck! I liked the inside, the layout of the cab. The only thing I didn't like was the 3.55 gears. I have been thinking about trying one with the heavy tow option. Really don't know at this point. The dealer ship Red Taylor Ford in Corning has been around for years and we have traded with them off and on over the years. There having good luck out of the engines an drivetrains. In my country that says a lot. a lot of it will depend in what direction I go with some equipment and a haying venture. If I get into haying there won't be another 1/2 ton for me, my opinion is not biased, I am a Chevy man and drive one currently! LUTT

Not in today's f150. Loaded down with dual climate control and other luxuries. I couldn't choose that trim because I need a bench seat up front to haul people while towing the boat.

My best friend has always had fx4's too and when he bought his 2010 he told them he wanted a crew cab, white, fx4. When he went to pick the truck up he was like "this isn't my truck, this is too nice!". He wasn't expecting leather seats and a sunroof I guess.

I guess "riding rougher" is a mis-statement. My 14 feels like it doesn't absorb bumps as well as my 04 did. It feels like the nose of the truck dives down sorta hard in the front whereas my 04 would glide over washboard roads and bumps. I dunno if Rancho is using a different shock or what makes it feel like that. I like the material of the cloth seats in my 14 as it should hold up better then my 04 seats but man does it need more cushioning.

Not any more. At one time FX4 was similar to Chevy Z71 packages, just suspension. Now days it's a trim level.

The lineup is something like:
XL
XLT
FX4
PLATINUM
RANCH KING
