I bought a 2014 FX4 supercab w/ecoboost and have about 10K miles on it so far. It's actually my wife's daily driver. The 3.5 Ecoboost has some incredible power. We barely get 20mpg on the highway and overall mileage is about 17mpg. That's still acceptable to me. Her previous Honda Pilot only did slightly better. There might be some truth to the brake rotor issues. My buddy bought the same truck as mine 6 months earlier and he's already brought it back for warranty for a warped rotor. he also had a warranty for the infotainment system.

It is critical to properly torque the lug nuts after tire rotation otherwise you will have a rotor war page problem

Some folks don't understand that you can have more power AND better fuel economy, but not necessarily both at the same time. I'm betting right with you and Ford, though I don't have an EcoBoost...yet.

Actually, no. No you can't. There is X amount of energy in a Liter of fuel. It takes X amount of fuel to push a vehicle through the air at any given speed. All three majors find minor improvements by varying displacement. Ford with turbos, GM and RAM with variable cam timing.

RAM currently leads the fuel economy race because they are the slipperiest through the air. Ford will likely exceed the others with the new truck.

I think you mis-interpreted what he wrote. The way I understood it was the same as what you stated.

I live at 3,500 MSL so that could be part of it and I too hand calculate. I have the HS payload package with LT tires. They are not as efficient as the car tires on most Eco's.

I don't believe that the window sticker considers anything but the best possible conditions.

I had to take my daughter to the dentist after work. I filled the truck up yesterday. I have done about 50 miles of freeway and 50 miles of around town on this tank. Here is a few pics to show what my truck gets. And like I said it's always .1 or .2 mpg off.

1st is 20 miles from home, 2nd is in the garage.

The tow mileage is getting down there with my 7.5(460) but the no-load is nice as I only get 13mpg when driving careful. When I tow the engine is puttering along and when I press get go pedal it goes.
On a side note about braking,I've got original shoes on the rear and original rotors on the front but only have 106k miles on it. It sits a lot and I drive 99 Explorer and with the seats down it's my ranger with a cover.
Ford fan here cause the 97 has never been in the shop and I bought it new. Bad c converter but I fixed it!

Anyone know what kind of tow ratings the smaller 2.7 EB will have?

I did work for a company called Saint Gobain for 13.5 years whom made auto glass amongst many other products. I lost my job there when they sold the company to a German Firm whom already had a flight department. They closed ours after a year battle with Budwiser in federal courts. We supplied them with glass beer bottles. They filed suit with Federal Trade Commission but eventually lost. It was too late for our department and the new parent company, the damage was done, and we all lost our jobs. At the end of the day Budwiser cost 20 of us our jobs.

My father is retired from Stant. He worked there for 40 years running operations in Connersville Indiana, Pine Bluff Arkansas, and Tijuana Mexico.
