Following the instructions that came with the modem, I plugged it into my wireless router instead of the computer and into the phone jack. The DSL light just blinked. I still have my cell phone modem, so I searched online and found that probably all the phones and satellite boxes needed to be disconnected. After doing that, the DSL light came on steady and the internet connection light showed up. I opened my browser and was right at CenturyLink's site to complete the installation. They guided me through filter installation (one dual and two single filters). Except for needing two more single filters, everything was in the box and worked just as described. I tested the speed and it actually slightly exceeds what I signed up for. I have lots of speed at my desktop and very good speed through my wireless CradlePoint MBR-1000 router.
:

We recently did the same thing with Century Link. I am on the last road before the local phone service switches to Verizon. This caused the modem to connect in the outdoor box but not in the house. In order to correct this I had to run a dedicated phone line into the house for the modem, and then Century Link came out installed a filter in the outdoor box. The technician that came out said that the signal is somewhat weak due to distance by the time it gets to us. Works great, and also reduced the bytes on our Verizon card. We still have a year on the contract for the Verizon card or it would be gone also.

Do they offer the digital TV there? They do not here, want us to bundle it with DishNetwork. Up to this point there is no savings so therefore I have not done this.

One other thing is they did some sort of double billing the first month. Even though I previously had a land line, they said we had to pay the first month in advance. I called and complained and they took a $20 shipping charge off for the modem. Other than that the service has worked good.

Yeah! The next thing you know, they'll build a La Quinta and a Denny's in Sunset. But we haven't quite got up to a Donuts and Fish level yet.

Oh yes! Check out the picture from the small town of Rogue River south of Grants Pass, OR where CurlyDave lives. Kathy and I figured they should also put in a tanning bed.;)

We can receive OTA digital HDTV from the local Dallas/Fort Worth TV stations with our antenna on the roof. Even so, we recently opted for two DishNetwork HD receivers and a DVR. So, we are "enslaved" to the dish for two years to get the HD for Life option.

I have DSL, but I'm stuck at 1.5mbs and have been for years. It's better than nothing, but frustrating when downloading large movie files on Netflix, software updates or using wi-fi radio.

Guess I moved to the wrong part of Ohio.....
Having just moved from the suburbs of Detroit, where I had 7 mgb with Comcast, which was beautiful......
so, checked with landline provider....no DSL available. Time-Warner is the big internet/TV provider in the "area" but they said for the small fee of 25K they could get the wire to my house.....(ha) previous owner had Hughes net, but he didn't recommend it due to cost/speed.....
so we got the verizon mi-fi, which is slower, but works....I just bought a signal booster, will install it when I get back home, hopefully that'll help. Really wanted the Time Warner, they have a turbo internet of 15 megs......eish!

I want my hi-speed back!!
