I'm going to let my ignorance out, so DUCK!!!
I'm confused by the number of diffrent transmissions, and don't know what the right term for several are, but here I go...
Typical standard tranny: no shift on fly, stop, clutch and hunt for each gear, some have 1/2/3 ranges, also must stop/clutch for range and PTO speed range and on/off. Used on my Kub
l285, ford NAA, and ford 3000
Hydro-static: I have used on lawn mowers, micro loaders (JD-244), skid steers, ect. Some have one, two, or three ranges... don't know if you must clutch to engage PTO/change range.
.
Mechanical Shuttle:
I think I've been around this, MF grading tractor, gears on floor board, come to complete stop, clutch, move "shuttle lever" on steering column ftom forward to reverse, release clutch. No gear changing on fly. Will stall tractor if in high gear and push too much
Glide shift: never realized if I've seen/used,
Power Shuttle: ? Is this what's on a full sized loader? No clutch, no gear shifter, just a twist knob on the shuttle lever, shift gear/reverse on fly with out coming to a stop? I used a JD-310(?d model maybe) that shuttled, no clutch, but you had to come to a complete stop to shift, and it had a gear shifter on floor. Will not stall when meeting immovable object. Note: the non-catepillars all seem to have a transmission locking E-brake that will absalotily stop you right now if you hit it, the cats have a mechanical E-brake that will kinda hold it still on level ground, but if pulled slows yoi down to eventual slow stop. Neither brake will stall the loader/forklift/whatever
Syncro Shuttle: ? Never used, but I think they say you still clutch to reverse like a mechanical, but you can gear change on fly?
DynaQ power shuttle: ???
Select-O-Speed: ???
Torque reverser: ???
Basically I'm wondering if my understanding is right? And if it is, doesn't power shuttle do everything that a standard does powerwise, with the flexablity of hydro. Is it only offered on full sized 75hp + machines?
