Dump Trailer Concern

Are you looking at this trailer because of the weight or volume than it can haul? If you're not going on the road with it and only using it around your property, then I would suggest a 4 wheel wagon with a dump body. They'll be cheaper and do a better job although backing up a 4 wheel wagon is more difficult.

I have a wagon rated for 1 ton with a dump cylinder. It's just a little one at 3.5' x 6' (they make them bigger with more weight also) and works well for my ranch. It can carry 1 ton or 2 yards of material (which ever is less) and I tow it behind my RTV or tractor.

What happens when you get a dead battery? How do you get to it to recharge it?

from watching a youtube video apparently you can get at the battery if its dead, not easily, I plan to put a set of quick disconnects out front, and prolly a solar charger as well.

I only have a mid size suv right now, none with 7 pin and its on its death bed. I was planning to buy a larger vehicle before prices sky rocketed, but now they are out of range.

i also have large hills and need to be able to move this either with the suv, or the tractor, this tractor nor my suv is going to move a 5k load on these hills.

i plan to use it 60% in the woods and 40% on road. i realize it has limited haul, but there is a pretty standard gap out side of some special trims, where its either 3500 towing, or 6k+ towing, and most 6k+ are still out of price range for my expected use.

I am considering buying this, this week, has anyone used one of these? the rear panel has me concerned since if you put enough weight against it, I assume I will struggle to remove the gate/ ramp?

I wish it had doors, but it seems like only larger models do, and this is about the weight limit I can handle right now,

any suggestions?

What is your question? I have the same trailer which I use for a lot of things. It is lightweight as mentioned, but is handy for what I bought it for. I use it around my yard, and on road for bringing in a few logs or 1/2 cord loads of dry firewood. (The latter is pushing the weight limits.) I move loam, gravel, firewood, lumber, slabs and find a lot of other uses for it.
To buy something heavier puts you into the realm of trailer brakes which means more money.

its in the first sentence, do you find that dirt gravel, makes it hard to remove the gate? do you find you need a shovel to get the dirt moving? does your license plate get destroyed?


if you actually have one, how many lifts on average do you get between charges?

any concerns I should know about?

I don’t use the tailgate around my yard. As somebody mentioned, if a load is against it I just clear in back of it. I carry a pry bar to lift underneath. Taking it off is a pain sometimes as you have to lift bothe ends equally, but it works.
I ripped the license plate off long ago and carry it under the seat of my pickup. I have been thinking about building a bracket for it to slide down into the slots for the ramps.

I can’t really answer about dumps between charges. I charge it before worrying about the battery going dead. The way it’s stored there is no way to get at the battery without raising the bed.

My biggest gripe is that it is too low, and drags on the ground when fully dumped. I’ve thought about putting taller tires on, but that would mean modifying the bed to accommodate them.

will it not dump the load? do you find you constantly have to drag it on full tilt? it did seem like it got to close to ground

It will dump it. But when the bed is on the ground, there isn't much room for the material to go.

you said the trailer is lightweight, do you feel that you have to be careful with it, or has it stood up to your abuse? how long have you owned it?
