I'm considering the purchase of a small, off-road, dump-trailer.

King Kutter 1.5 Ton Dump Trailer

It comes with single action cylinder and "double action" hand pump. Can this be easily converted to use with one of my rear remotes?

If so, what is involved?

I can change the quick connect fittings but I don't understand the single action approach. My only experience is double acting cylinders -- open and close.

Thanks

4 years ago I got a brand new big tex 70R , 7000 pound dump trailer with hydraulic pump for $3,100. Why would u spend 2500 on a manual pump.

then again, im not sure what they cost now days

I'm not sure what your budget is, but there is a dealer here in PA that builds and sells small trailers like that, and they are also DOT compliant. Google.. extreme road and trail trailers... I can't get the website right now for whatever reason. But it's something to consider if you might be close? I just hate not knowing about options.

What are you gonna pull it with?,
That trailer would look like a postage stamp behind a 4052 JD,,,

That''s a small trailer for your tractor , You can run it off the rear remotes if you have float you can run single action power up (gravity down ) or two lines power up power down like mine.. 0413161324-00.jpg

I have a single acting cylinder on my sickle bar mower. I just connect the one hose to one port of a rear remote pair. So on the control lever one position pushes the ram out ( raises the trailer in your case ) the other position allows the ram to retract by gravity and the fluid in the cylinder returns to the tank. Because there is no hose on the other side the relief valve opens to allow the pressure side fluid to return to the tank. This is not a problem because the duty cycle of dumping and lowering is so small you will not over heat the fluid by running it through the relief valve.

You may have a very good reason for the 1.5 ton trailer but I agree with the others it is small compared to your tractor's capability. I have a 1.5 on a 30 hp tractor and it handles great even on hilly rough terrain.
