If a larger cylinder is used I would suggest lowering the pressure so that you don’t bend or destroy your dump trailer.

Lift force = pressure times cylinder area

Examples
1 1/2 inch bore and 2000 PSI = 3500 lbs

2 1/2 inch bore at 2000 PSI = 9800 lbs

Is that as easy as lowering the Relief valve on the pump?

Yes, system pressure is limited or set by the relief valve


To figure cylinder velocity

Flow = velocity times area

Flow = GPM x 231/60 = cubic inches second
Velocity inches per second
Area square inches

yes, those times look close.

for reference: double the diameter = four times the area so a 3 inch cylinder will be 4 times slower than an 1 1/2 cylinder
