Dump trailer

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me, is there enough oil in the reservoir on a Kubota L3800 to run a dump trailer with a single acting piston 3x24" stroke? Any input on your experience with this would be helpful. Thank you

A few things.. if you don't get it to the level where it might starve the pump it would be bad, but short of that, usually when your dumping, your not driving.
If your cyl on the trlr is actually double acting with a vent in the "other end", you could make it double acting with a return hose and the cyl. would become a mini reservoir with the returning fluid going back to the tractor.
I did this on a trlr. with some qc couplers. I could switch back and forth from the tractor to the elec pump for use with the truck.

I think the piston should use about 3qts of oil to extend but then I would be pulling the tractor forward with the trailer body up.

I would guess that 3 quarts would not put you in any danger to pull up a few feet. What does your hytrans take (gals) to change?

I bet that 3x24 piston doesn't have much more displacement than the 3pt lift cylinder. (That's the only other single acting piston on your tractor right?) And the system certainly deal with that "lost" fluid.
Bottom line: I think Rusty is correct and it won't miss those 3qts.
