That's a nice looking trailer. The scissors hoist looks like a nice feature. Mine is a single ram going from the front to a piece of channel across the middle of the trailer. If I get too much weight up front I have trouble lifting. It's not a big problem, usually a little boost with a pry bar gets it started, then it's ok. I think it's because the ram is at a nearly horizontal angle when the box is all the way down. I have a regular tailgate on mine, and I think I would prefer the barn door type, keeping the back a little higher off the ground for dumping.

Take a look at PJ Trailers. I picked-up a 7x14ft (big enough to haul my tractor); 10k load rating, dual axle, scissor jack, 3-way door (barn, drop down, and lift-up for metered dumping), slide out ramps, powder coat finish, D-rings...Paid just over $6k including trailer brake install. My local dealer gets them from a distributor in your neck of the woods - Cox Trailer Sales (?) - maybe you'll pay less. Worth a look.

I bought my Anderson trailer a year ago and it has been everything I had hoped. I've used it for hauling concrete debris, sand, yard debris and moved my whole household in it - 4, 2000 mile round trips. It is very similar to Mayhem's trailer with the scissors lift and hydraulic system under the bed. Mine is a 6 ton, 6'x12' trailer and it weighed 3,000 lbs. before adding the 24" sideboards in treated 2x4's and 5/4 decking boards that I used. I also put some 3/4" treated plywood on the floor to keep from denting it when loading debris. The Anderson trailers seemed much better built than the other many brands I looked at - more bracing, excellent wiring system, grease fittings on springs, tailgate and hydraulic system. Has the hideaway ramps at the rear. I paid right at $4400 for it in Orlando, Florida and would buy another with my experience with it so far. My 2000 model F250 Super Duty pulls it great, very easy trailer to pull loaded or empty, although I prefer something in it for weight than not. I would have preferred the split tailgate as opposed to the 6' that's on mine, but they didn't have one in stock when I was ready to buy. Eventually I'll split this one - that 6' tailgate is mighty long to open in some places. I've heard that the 3-way tailgates sound really good, but that they get out of whack pretty easily and can be a headache once bent. Good luck on your shopping!!

Mine is a Gooseneck brand. 8'x14' with removable sides. I use it to haul equipment as well as materials. I just finished adding racks to hold the aluminum ramps, I'll try to post some pics soon. A link to pics of the trailer are in my sig.

I am half owner of a 8X16 dump trailer, it has a 20 ton hoist that will dump anything put in it. There are three of us that use it and the third non owner is doing upgrades and fixes whatever breaks when he uses it.
This trailer gets abused so it needs fixin on occasion.
Here is a link to a few pics under my album. My pics.

I am going to get one for sure. It seems like everyone here is pretty happy with the ones they have. i do have a couple more questons for the guys that have them.

---What do you tow it with?
---When you say it is a 10k does that include the weight of the trailer? or does that mean it will haul 10k of material?
---Do you have to stop at weigh stations?
---Is there a weight limit that can be towed by a certain vehicle.?
---In other words can a State Trooper pull me over and say I am over weight?
As you can see i am quite a rookie when it comes to these things.

I use an F-250 with the V-8. It handles it fine, could use some more power when loaded.
Yes, it includes the weight of the trailer.
I don't know for sure about weigh stations and have wondered the legality myself.
Somewhere on the vehicle is a GCWR(Gross combined weight something) which is what the manufacturer recommends for the total weight of vehicle and trailer. Whether you can get a ticket fo exceeding it, I'm not sure, but I doubt it as long as you are under the trailer weight limit. I"ve seen lively discussions started here over similar questions. Myself, I have exceeded it on occasion. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
And yes I do like my dump trailer.

- I tow with a Dodge 2500 (Hemi, not diesel).
- 10k on mine is the payload (not including trailer). 2nd time I used it had some miscommunication at the gravel yard, loaded 12k of 3/4 inch stone in it. Against all better judgement I decided to go ahead and drive it the 3 miles on backs roads to the job site. Customer drive was dirt, 1/2 mile up hill...I almost made it to the top in 4WD before all 4 wheels finally spun. Had to dump most of the load right there in the drive and move it with my FEL. Lesson learned.
- Not sure about the weigh stations, all of my use is local (within 15 miles of my house).

Here's a pic of the set-up with my tractor loaded.

--Tow vehicle is a '97 F250 powerstroke (have firestone ride rights to level out the loads)
--mine has 2 7k axles=14k-5k(trailer wgt)=9k payload
-- I never have but there are no scales between me and the gravel pit.

When I said the weight included the trailer, I meant the weight on the registration which is what you can legally haul on the road.
