DX33 Cold weather filter?

There was a service bulletin on atleast DX18 & 24E - actually I think dealer said it only applied to these two as salesman commented to service manager maybe we should change them on all ones left in yard. Not sure I understand but sounds like they did it for you ( they left trail of oil on grass) but only charged you for parts ? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Dealer tech came 20 miles to my place changed it, topped up lost fluid in my unheated shed at -5F! at no charge for parts or labour as there was a service bulletin. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What ever become of this filter problem? Hey Spencer, My TC33D was built in March 2003. Is this a hydraulic design problem on newer tractors only or is it indeed only a filter problem and since i have bought new filters, I may have a blowout in cold weather as well?

Since the filter was changed there hasn't been any problems....other than the 100 or so feet of yard that has to be repaired now....not a good subject! But then the temps have been well above zero as well.

So your saying New Holland changed there filter and doesnt seem to have the problems as much as before?

There is actually two available filters. I would say that if you are in a warmer climate the OEM filter will be adequate but if in a colder climate that is subject to below 0 temps then the cold weather filter will have to be used....I can't say that I am impressed with that. There has to be a flaw in the hydraulic circuit or a pressure relief valve. I am less than pleased with my dealer as well. It will be there loss as I will not be buying any additional items from them. That fifty dollar filter and the $320.00 repairs required to fix my yard will cost them much more. From now on I will haul it 40 miles to get it worked on if need be. The dealer I bought it from is 1/2 mile from my house.
