dyed kerosene or diesel?

DO NOT BURN KEROSENE IN A DIESEL!!!! It's your engine, but I'd drain that tank ASAP A very small amount of kero in diesel is OK as a winter treatment, but if you are not sure of your measurements, get it out of there and just buy some winter fuel treatment. For no more than you will burn, it is just not worth all this. Another difference in the two fuels is that the road fuel is a low sulfur fuel, Deere, International and many others suggest a fuel treatment to be added to prevent pump problems, as the sulfur acts as a lube for the moving parts. Any tractor dealer will, or should have diesel fuel treatment avail. The Red fuel is best, but very few folks will find it worth all the trouble to hunt it out, unless they are in a rural area.

What yyou are looking for is BTU's and lubricity! As much heat as you can get and lube for those 10,000 th. clearance jectors.

FYI #1/2 highway fuel is "low sulfer'' low btu's and low lube! Put this [censored] in my diesel and I'll kick you're [censored]! Add 1 or 2 qts of used engine oil in 10 gal of fuel and it becomes very tolerable.

Just so you learn that it it is a compression engine you are feeding IE lube the stuff that feeds it and make enough heat to make the advertised ft.lbs.trq.

So when the peanut oil gets dark in you're turkey cooker strain it thru a paint bag and pour it in and hook up the Bush Hog and run into the wind (smells like the best french fries you ever had)!!!

I'm not smart enough to run gas.

Dave,

I called one of the dealers in my area and found out that I don't use enough for them to deliver, but when I asked about bringing a 55 gal barrel to them, I was told that the price was about .84. Looks like I will be hooking up the trailer to my van and getting some "dyed high sulfur stuff".

I just wonder how good it will work in my wife's Jetta TDI? For all you goverment types I was just kidding on the last statement.

I buy red dyed off road diesel (#2 home heating oil) at the local oil dealer that has a convenient pump like a gas station, I wait until I have 4 or 5 fuel cans to fill then go there. They have a huge mother tank it must be at least 10,000 gallons maybe more. It costs 95c a gallon now which seems like a fair price I am not buying it in big bulk. Diesel fuel at a gas station is averaging $1.40 a gallon around here.

I don't use enough to make a big savings, I just like the idea of not having to pay the road tax why pay it if we're using an off road tractor.
