Copperhead. Your math is correct ! If you have a newer vehicle, I find that for a E0 manufactured vehicle, that my best fuel MPG performance is with E30. You might try that. I have run as high as E55 with no real issues, but E30 is more comfortable.

I've ran the stuff and was not impressed. Cost me more per mile and was stopping every 200 miles for fuel vs 350. Gas station owners love the foot traffic.

Chris

Chris - Today's Ethanol is much better that likely when you "tried" it. If your fuel provider correctly prices E85 then cost per mile will not increase. What is cleaner air worth to you & to America ??

Ethanol =GREED pure and simple. Ed

Ed - I don't understand. Please explain "GREED". I would like to hear it. There is NOTHING greedy about using or producing Ethanol that I am aware of.

Ethanol from corn?

Do you want me to thank you for using my tax dollars to float your "fuel independence" barge?

There is NO good reason to use corn to produce fuel when it costs $1.25 to sell for a buck.

Stupid!
.

Thank you for your response. However, you should be aware that Government subsidies are gone since 2011. The market place controls the pricing & production of Ethanol. No tax dollars are being used. However the Oil lobby continues to put out false information that some consumers believe !

How can you say that when it is not possible to purchase "regular" gasoline in many regions of my state. Yup! That would be market place controlling the pricing?
Switch your crop to long prairie grasses that do not subsidize both the seed suppliers and the inputs manufacturers and then you may have something worth while.
Planting corn releases ground sequestered green house gasses that may take 50 years to off set. Native grasses sequester more and more every year. Without the production expenses of corn. Corn is NOT the correct choice. I ask that you change crops in hopes of a better world today and tomorrow.

If you are conservative, save fuel and thumb your nose at the oil sheiks. If you are liberal, save the planet. If you are in the middle - save money. Festivus for the rest of us!

There is not a single gasoline marine engine manufacturer that allows anything over 10% Ethanol in their engines. If one uses a higher amount- warranty automatically VOID.
E-15 will not work in gas based marine engines. Why? Because of storage, phase separation, moisture absorption, etc.

We are long overdue for fuel efficient automobiles, in the at least 40MPG range. It could have been accomplished long ago but greed got in the way, along with arrogant attitudes by the manufacturers. Add in lobbyists for the auto industry and we are where we are today. VW is the perfect hindsight example. Not only did they do the diesel scam to make more money by claiming ridiculous unobtanium results, they also tweaked gas cars too, lots of them.

More Ethanol is NOT the answer. Building and selling fuel efficient cars/trucks is needed and long overdue.

Ethanol is 100% renewable fuel. It is totally GREEN. An air quality is not important to you ? important to America ?
Unless you can run combines, tractors, trucks, trains, and ethanol plants on wind power, it's not totally green. Add in the fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides to produce a corn crop - not green. Burning ethanol releases carbon dioxide. You talk of clean air. When I grew up, the brown cloud from Denver followed the mountains into Wyoming. We didn't produce it, but had to live with it. Believe me, the air quality has been greatly improved in the last forty years. I'll opt for keeping full employment, thanks to a robust energy sector.

It's always interesting when somebody just joins this site and either just pushes a particular product like they are some random fan of it and want to share with everybody else how good it is, or somebody posts how they hate a product and then provide a very one sided argument of how terrible that product is, or the service they received.

Ethanol is a horrible product that costs more to create then it generates. It is terrible on the environment, and it has destroyed land that was previously set aside for wildlife. It is dependent on the government giving them handouts to stay in business that if stopped, would shut down the entire ethanol industry immediately.

The only thing it has proven good for is that it's a fantastic way to buy the vote of those in those states who grow corn. Those people know that if their welfare ever stops, they will never be able to make a profit growing corn for ethanol.
