I hate it for the fact that corn is very water intensive. Western Kansas water tables are dropping to historic lows because of all the irrigation of ...you guessed it....corn for ethanol.

We have enough oil in this country to be independent but our leaders don't want it that way.

The government just has to mandate that all vehicles have to get over 1000 miles per gallon. Problem solved.

Implementing a minimum MPG on vehicles especially the 40 mpg said earlier is completely stupid. Do you plan on driving across the country in your 40 mpg car to get groceries because they won't be brought to your local grocery store anymore? How do you plan to make a semi get 40 mpg? How am I going to tow my gooseneck weighing 11,000 pounds? A ton truck can't get 40 mpg. How am I going to tow anything much less 11,000 or more pounds. How are you going to carry more than 5 passengers? I can't afford a vehicle that gets 40 mpg even if it was capable of towing. I am going to keep on driving my Chevy 1500 with 219,000 miles and my F-350 with 110,000 miles.

Ethanol is 100% renewable fuel. It is totally GREEN. An air quality is not important to you ? important to America ?

Eddie already said it. Ethanol destroys engines. It has to be made, utilizing more energy than it replaces.

While I understand that you are making a joke, it should be noted that when the government raises mileage standards, auto manufacturers meet these goals by making lighter vehicles and specialty vehicles that will exceed these level so they can make other vehicles that people actually want to buy. It is a game that costs the manufactures millions that is paid for by tax payer money. Ever herd of the Volt? One of the horrible results of these policies is that more people die in lighter vehicles!!!!!

Eddie - there are no government subsidies for Ethanol. It is a GREAT product, not a "horrible product". The voters in states that grow corn do not have enough votes to put or keep someone in national office. There is no welfare here. Thanks for your opinion. Merry Christmas

Ethanol is a bad "green" joke, that is, unless you profit "green" colored money from manufacturing or selling it.

And don't forget the big lie, that there is a shortage of oil. Every year with the discovery of new reserves, along with new technology to get and refine oil, the expected amount of oil in the world keeps getting longer into the future!!!! There is no shortage of oil.

That might be well true depending on pricing in your area. In my area as well, E85 is not worth it. But lets look at some other levels. E0 is currently $2.36 a gallon in my area. Let's say with my 2015 2500HD 6.0L flex fuel I get 15 mpg average with E0. That equates to 15.7 cents a mile fuel cost. E10 is $1.93 in my area. Let's say I lose 1 mpg and get 14 mpg. Based on that, my fuel cost is 13.7 cents a mile. I just saved 2 cents a mile. I use E15, as there is no appreciable mpg difference between it an E10 in my pickup. But the price is $1.86 in my area. Using it saves me an additional 1/2 cent a mile. So using E15 as opposed to E0, I save 2.5 cents a mile. I will concede, at the current $1.68 I can get E85 in my area for, the mpg loss makes it more costly per mile than E15. So I use E15. While gas stations might like the foot traffic, they hardly get mine. I fuel and pay at the pump and move on most times.

Right now in my area gas, E10, is $1.77 per gallon. We can't get E0 or E15. Our only other option is E85. It's sells for about $2.39 per gallon. Problem is in any vehicle I have used it in I goy about 65% the economy vs E10. So in my eyes to make it a was to my wallet it has to be 1/3 cheaper than E10. That's just to my wallet at the gas station and doesn't consider what it does at the grocery store, feed store, pay stub, ect.
