Early 80\'s B1700

I have the opportunity to purchase a B1700 4WD with loader and 3pt from a construction company. The Tractor seems to be in good mechanical shape, but poor exterior shape. It needs tires all around, a new battery, and some paint. All hydraulics work fine, 4WD works fine, rear PTO (3 speed--don't know what the are, but I assume 540 and 2000 are two of the speeds) appears to work fine, and the engine starts easily, runs, and has plenty of pep. Hourmeter has 800 hours, but I don't know if that is working right. I am having a hard time finding anything comparable to it due to its age. Everything on the tractor is written in French and English. Everything is gear driven to my knowledge. The loader attachment works off of a hydraulic pump attached to the front PTO.

The guys wants $1000.00. I know I will need to put at least $350 in tires, $40 rebuild on the hydraulic valve for the loader, and $50 into a battery. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

-Rich

Rich, did you mean to say a B1700 or a B7100? If it's early 80s, then I'd guess you mean B7100. And if you're right about them only wanting one thousand for it, it's a bargain (or would be in my area). Anything that'll move under its own power will sell for more than that.

Agree with Bird, it's a deal. My neighbor has one (B7100) with 1200 hours; runs like a champ with nothing but scheduled maintenance. Good luck.

I would look at some other used Kubota's to be sure of what you are buying. There was a grey market model B1700 and with the french writing you might have one of those tractors. Still sounds like a good price.

If it's really a B1700 with a FEL, buy it. You can't touch anything that will move under it's own power for that price, regardless of condition.

rortt,
If you mean a B7100 and in good shape I would consider buying it,you can always fix it up and sell it or trade up.

I enjoy my B7100 and its done about everything I ask of it,but the ownly draw back is no power steering..ouch. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Good luck.
