Actually, the Stihl top handle arborist saw is just as light and easy to start and probably a bit better build quality as well but the price is the knocker at 700 bucks. I know I had one and ran it over with the bucket truck and I wasn't about to buy another one for that price and I sure wasn't going to buy a Chinese saw either. The Echo and the Stihl are clamshell engines anyway and I presume the Chinese Farmtek is as well. Interestingly the little Echo is the only saw I own with a primer bulb.

I have no idea which Stihl top handle you're referring to but NONE of them are "just as light" as the Echo 2511T. And the Echo 2511 is not a clamshell design. And the only Echo that you have ever claimed to owning was what you called the "timber Bear" which I have never even heard of that model. I can only assume you actually meant the Timber Wolf, which is Echo's home series of saws and not the professional series....

The 2511 is pro grade and not built like a homeowner clamshell 271T or poulan plastic saw.
You can see difference in builds of a true clammy and the 2511 etc that you can do the machine work on a 2511 and 150 but not the cheaper built 271 style cylinders.

5030 owns this = The echo 271T 26.9cc is the clamshell homeowner lower powered saw. 6.6lbs same wight as a Zenoah 2500 25cc back in the day.

I just turned down a 271T like new with 12" bar and chain with new echo hat for $100. Just didnt want a homeowner cheaper clamshell saw.

Stihl 150 not a clamshell either. Owned the stihl 150T as I got it on trade in on a saw. Wanted the 2511. But was a trade in so why not. Thing I liked about it was it had the mini micro 1/4" chain set ups. IMHO what the 2511 should have been coming with.
But later on a tree guy liked the 150 better then me so off she went.

Since comparing the nice light weight of a 2511 smokes them all.

Light to Heavy.

2511 suppose to be like 5lbs 1oz PHO dry.

Yeah, a 271T isn't a saw I would even consider putting in my lineup. I don't do clamshell saws whatsoever...

Here is a pic of a friends comparing his 2511 to his homeowner 271 for size.

He does palms for folks on the side with his TH's.

Ya even for a 100 for a like new 271 it twisted my arm a bit. But I just cant get past their build style and I can get them cheaper then their 359 asking price with b+c.

I can get 271 PHO 339 retail plus another 10% off all the time due to veterans discount.

If I was going to do that I would up the few bucks more for a 2511. 489 PHO then 10% off.

I agree. @ $100 I may have been tempted too but I would hang up on the build style. I enjoy tinkering on saws too much to mess with a clamshell saw...

Well, severe storms and straight line winds overnight had me using my saws quite a bit today. I didn’t want to put this Echo down! It’s like an entirely different saw.”, so freaking fun! It will be busy for a few days, trees down everywhere.
