Because God knows you'd never want to support 70,000 U.S. people employed directly by Japanese auto companies or another 210,000 employed indirectly. Floyd R. Turbo, American.

I think the point is the tax payer DIDN'T get all their money back...and neither did the shareholders.

Correct. We were a supplier and got .11 on the dollar for our efforts. I caused me to take a 3 year pay freeze.

No kidding. At the time, my 2010 Tundra had more domestic parts content than any other half ton on the market, I think the sticker said 81% (Ford and GM were close, but dodge was far behind). It was designed here in Ann Arbor, and built in Texas. So I guess in that case, I supported American people more than I supported the "domestic" auto companies. Judge accordingly I suppose.

Oh, my 04 Sequoia was built in Princeton Indiana, and has around 75% domestic parts content.

I can't argue on the Prius tho ... it's nearly 100% Japanese. (but the Kubota guys should like that)

Your lucky you company stayed afloat. Many in this area had to close their doors when GM did not pay them. In turn we did not get payed. I guess it is easy to make a profit when you don't pay for parts to build things. It would be nice if GM would use some of the billions they spend in advertising to pay back some of these outfits. That is one of the many reasons I will not go back to GM. CJ

I won't say that I'll never buy another GM or Ford (for me it's more about the product than the legacy), but one thing is for sure, I'll never invest another penny in their stock. I have several family members who were screwed over by both GM and Ford, both as active and retired employees.

Yes I agree, gotta investigate where anything is truly built these days. I live 30 minutes from the Princeton plant and the Tundra used to also be built there before sending it to Texas.

As far as the kubota comment, once again, must investigate because many are built here in the US.

I haven't read that link yet, but I believe their loaders are made here, but their compact line is built overseas and shipped here. Final assembly takes place here. But in this case final assembly just means that the tires are put on. There are a few other things that are installed here as well, like the loaders, etc. they do that because it's easier and cheaper to ship the items when they are neatly packaged in a crate.

Kubota isn't the only one that does this, most of them do as most compact tractors are built overseas, regardless of color or brand logo.

Nothing new here. A ford thread turns into a "bash all other brands" thread. :talktothehand:

Report back after you read the link. Might want to edit your earlier post to include all subcompact tractors
