Bought a B7300 and need a mower. Is the HP that runs a bellymower and the HP that runs a finish mower different? Silly I know, but the consensus was I need a four ft. finish mower because of the 12.5 HP at the PTO. Makes sense, but every used B7300 with a bellymower has a 5 ft. So my assumption is it must be different power at the mid mount than the rear PTO. Yea, nay?

Any given mower may require a little more or less hp than any other depending on such variables as the state and quality of the bearings, for example, but, you have the same PTO hp at the rear PTO as you have at the mid PTO. Now if'n I'm wrong, someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly, I'm sure.

If there is a FEL attached it may make a difference in what MMMs are compatible...

I previously asked in the other thread you started if the transmission is HSD ?

I'm not sure on that tractor, but I think you'll find the mid-PTO for the belly mower is turning much faster than the 540 rpm of the rear PTO. The higher rpm may give it more power or more torque. And maybe someone who knows more about that than I will chime in.:)

yes, mid ptos usually run at high rpm. Power delivered is about the same maybe a couple percent either way depending on efficiency of the actual gearing. A given amount of shaft horsepower can be high-torque-low-speed or high-speed-low-torque. Or any combination in between that's equivalent.

Correct. The mid pto, if so equipped, spins at a much higher RPM (2000+). As stated above, there is no more hp, but spinning so much faster, the MMMs are designed for this speed as is the power transferring system to the blades. The rear mowers take the 540 RPM, and transmit through the gear box to spin the blades faster. Similar systems, but different approaches.

Horsepower is horsepower, what goes in with some loss thru a drivetrain is what comes out. The mid-PTO spins at 2500 rpm and torque could be multiplied thru the mower gearbox if it has more than a 1:1 ratio which I don't know. The pulleys appear to be 1:1 so no multiplication there. I would suspect a marginal difference in PTO HP between the mid and rear PTO because of the gearing difference 540 VS 2500.
