Electric Fence Options of Mini Horses.

I was reading tonight how you need to train your animals so we will build a small area fence for training so they do not run though it the first thing. The year old colt is all boy for sure.

Perhaps it's because we used the white, horseguardfence tape that is 1.5" wide, but we've never had to train our horses regarding the electric fence. The lowest tape is 3 feet off the ground (so it's not covered by snow in the winter) so the horses try to get to the grass on the other side of the fence. This usually means their ears touch the tape. A few shocks like this and they learn white tape = an oowie, even to the point where the tape doesn't have to be energized because they learn to stay away from it.

Hmmm, I must own a field full of highly educated bovine. Mine will stay where they are put with one poly wire and temp posts 30' apart.

Maybe their charger wasn't mean enough.

I vote fot smart bovine!

But seriously, this guy has a 5 wire, high tension fence, with every other wire electric. if the charger goes off for any reason, the bovines try and make a run for it.

You might be right. Maybe that's why horseguardfenice offers green and brown tape, in addition to white.

NO. Got caught up in life.

I have been setting it in the sun however. Kids having a lot of camps, etc. Last week my son drove me to Canada since we have two property mutual insurance carrier accounts in ND that are each located about an hour south of the border then we worked out way back down through MN and IA.

Saw a lot of electric fences on that 3500 mile drive over 6.5 days. Hopefully we will get something up soon but like from Canada on down it is raining here as I type so the temp fencing of the lawn is supporting the horses with a few hours of daily grazing.

Not sure if it works or not because I can not get the kids to hold red and green posts while I turn it on.
