Lighter wieght is a positive feature, as long as the manufacturer doesn't lighten it by skimping on the stator windings. Lighter windings build more heat than heavier windings. The heaviest part of the generator is the stator, and a quality stator is usually a heavy stator. There are generators called inverters that produce more power with a lighter overall package, without a sacrifice in stator quality.

Looks like somebody got a good deal on that E-bay Generac. Of course I missed it - always a day late and a dollar short!
And, it was only about a 45 min drive from the house!!

I bought the larger (7000w max/6200w running) version of this for $499. Works great. These are actually Dayton generators, same as sold by Graingers for around $1300. They are not seconds as sold by HF. Your choice, but for the price ......

One word of warning - these are not packaged very well and truck shipped to you. Mine was fine, but my neighbor's was evidently dropped at his house from a low flying airplane. Check it at delivery!
