Electrical code ? Wire type indoor vs buried

Given that line of reasoning. It would be fair game to wire a house with two wire without a ground and use two slot receptacles .

I think he meant if it seems reasonable. Some of the code is written to protect idiots or the next owner.

I am not saying to not put in a ground rod at out building, but I wouldn't run out and put one in tommorrow, if it lacked one.

True enough... my city has code that exceed NEC so I have no choice other than to comply...

Just like the plumbing code bans all plastic above ground for plumbing... include Drain Waste and Vent... so it is Cast Iron or Copper for crawl space sewer and under sink P-Traps.

The neighboring city goes one further and requires only Ground Joint P-Traps...

Why do you stay in CA?

I hold the people in CA accountable for the embarassment to the US, that CA is. They let it happen.

Why didn't you point out, that he didn't have to run #8?

/ Electrical code ? Wire type indoor vs buried #45
The only code that can be used against you is the code that is locally adopted and enforced...

It the city requires #8 copper for a 30 amp dryer circuit in a residence that is what I have to have to get my permit signed off.

If the city requires design review to construct or modify a home... it must be done to continue... similar to many other cities with Historic Districts...

As to the other question... I have 25 years in on the job here and my own side business... I take care of Mom and she is not interested in moving away from her Grandkids.

There are more rules and regs coming all the time... a ton of things when it comes to building, energy management, things like a total ban on all wood burning installations for a long time now...

Moving most likely will only delay things...

In 1973 when California went to Unleaded Gas the other States said it would never happen... we now know never is measured in years.

When California passed laws regulating how much water a toilet can use or mandating NOx controls of Water Heaters the same was said... and now has spread to many other States.

The thing to remember is what starts in California doesn't stay in California.

This is why I hate CA, and blame the people who live there.

I a pretty sure CA was screwed up 25 years ago too. CA is screwed up because the people there don't realize it is screwed up. One problem is people are moving from CA, and trying to screw up other states.

People don't realize they are screwed up. I am sure the people who pushed for 1.6 gallon toilets though they had the right to stick their nose in my crapper.

I have a well a septic. I should be allowed to crap freely without government intervention.

Those efficient toilets use more water and waste my time. Having to flush 2 or 3 times and having to wait a couple of minutes in between for the tank to refill.:mur:

Maybe we should have two levels of flush?? I think a simple #1 and #2 lever setting should suffice and everyone would understand?

The efficient toilets in our last house were awful. We have a newer generation of efficient toilets in our new house, and not one problem in 3 years. In fact, I don't even know where the plunger is. The only downside is that the flush is loud, like a rest stop toilet on the Jersey turnpike.

Sounds like you have a flushmate. Those are nice units and I have them in my apartments. They really do flush well with little water.

If you take the lid off the back, shouldnt see any water or plunger, only a black pressure tank.

Its a pressure tank that kinda acts like them blue expansion tanks. As water fills it, air is not allowed to escape. So it fills up and compresses the air to whatever your water line pressure is (50-60psi?). Then when you flush, instead of the ~1-2psi of force that gravity offers, it is flushing with 50-60psi of force. You can tell when you push the lever to flush, you know its doing more than just opening a flapper to let water out:thumbsup:

They make them. I think they're more popular in Europe. They're called dual flush toilets. .8 gal when you press button "#1" and 1.6 gal for button #2.

I don't no what to say other than the population around here is up 60k and continues to grow... construction is going gangbusters too.

Lack of people wanting to live here has not been a problem making it easy to older homeowners to sell out and take the windfall to lower cost of living States.

Septics, Well, Heating with Wood are all pretty much things of the past... and you can include 50+hp Diesel equipment like chippers and construction equipment... just like bracing water heaters is required now.

I do see new solar installs going in all the time around the neighborhood. Two have gone in on my street in the last couple of months.

Those toilets were discontinued years ago because when they're fail they usually explode destroying the toilet and letting the bathroom flood.

I had one, couldn't find parts when it broke but it was awesome.

It looks like Flushmate still makes them: Flushmate

Who would have thought we would have to have high performance toilets? Not to mention pricey.

I am not sure that there is a growing population of crazies, is something to hang your hat on. You probably don't even know how crazy you are.
Septic and wells are not going anywhere, in other parts of the country. The big fancy houses are getting them. EPA is coming after wood. Still lots of people that heat with wood.

We can blame the government again, for toilet fatalities.
